"Okay, how's that?" The hairdresser asked as she brought a mirror closer to Maddie's face. A smile lit up Maddie's face as she saw her once mousse brown hair now had honey blonde highlights in it. "I love it! Thank you Danielle!" Maddie looked up at the pink haired women who was grinning widely. "No problem.""Mads! Now we're matching! I mean yours blend into your hair more-but still!" Daisy squealed excitedly and Maddie nodded as she got out of the chair and stood next to Daisy. "You girls both look fab, if I do say so myself."
"Thank you Danielle." Maddie looked at the hairdressers name tag and smiled as she took them to the cash register. "Okay, so your total is $337. Cash or card?" Danielle looked over at Maddie. "Cash."
Maddie handed the pink haired women the money and Daisy widened her eyes. "Jesus, where'd you get that cash? I thought we were gonna have to run and leave." She whispered in her friends ear as the pair walked out the hair salon. "My dad." The girl shrugged as if it was nothing and Daisy eyebrows rose in shock. "Your dad willingly gave you that cash?" Maddie paused before she hesitantly answered and shrugged. "Yeah, sure."

"Both of your girls hair looks amazing!" Georgia complimented and Nadia nodded in agreement. "Hey, Tommy Cutahee is throwing a party tonight. You coming?" Riley looked at Maddie who shrugged. "I don't know. You going?" She questioned and Riley nodded. "Probably then. As long as someone fun is there."
"Maddison Black, could you come to the principal's office please?" A teacher tapped her shoulder and Maddie groaned internally before nodding her head and bidding her friends goodbye.
"Maddison. You've changed quite a bit in the past few months, I must say. You used to be a model student and now you're skipping classes to-" Principal Brown began. "Hold on a mi-" "We have the security footage. Don't try and lie."
Maddie's face fell slightly and she looked down at her hands. She felt her face turning red as she let out a mumble. "Are you going to expel me?" She peered up and Principal Brown's body language relaxed. "No. You should be lucky I'm not. However, I am gonna sign you up for some community service." Maddie felt herself relax slightly but she still wasn't overly thrilled.
"Community service?" She questioned and Principal Brown nodded. "It is run by a parent, and some students, who either want extra credit or need it to pass certain subjects complete it."
"I know that you probably think going to parties is the only thing that matters right now, but it's not. It's so important to focus on your studies and get good grades which, I know you're capable of. We're just not seeing that right now. Do you understand what I'm saying Maddison?" Principal Brown explained whilst Maddie fiddled with her fingers in her lap.
"Yeah." She mumbled and Principal Brown leaned closer. "Could you please speak up, I couldn't hear you." "Yeah, I understand."
"Okay, we couldn't identify anyone else on the camera footage so I was wondering if you could tell me, who else was there." The principal rested his hands on the desk and Maddie subconsciously bit her lip. "Look, I understand that you don't want to tell on your friends but remember what the right thing to do is."
Maddie hesitated before she answered, she wasn't going to tell on her friends. "Sorry Principal Brown, I don't even know the kids who were skipping with me." Principal Brown paused as he looked the teenager up and down before sighing. "Alright then, off you go."
He dismissed the girl who walked out as a sigh fell from her lips. "So, what'd he want?" "Jesus, Riley. Were you waiting for me?" Maddie gasped as she was met with Riley's face. "Yeah, I was. What'd he want?" Riley repeated herself and Maddie sighed.
