They had a couple of warm ups before the other team arrived to their school. Steve would stop over to see if Marlowe is okay. While Billy would stare from the corner of his eye. Listening to Tommy's crap.

Seeing Marlowe chuckle or let out a small snort, he thought it was sorta cute. People started to arrive as Steve waved goodbye to Marlowe. Billy knew that people had way better families than he did.

Coming out as the team numbers were called out from each team. Billy waved and smiled and shouted. "LETS GO!"

Granny was paying attention to the game as Marlowe was nervous to talk to her granny about what she wanted. She listen to what her granny would say and care about what she did most of her evening by going to her bar and have one beer before she arrived.

"Deary why do you look so nervous? Is there a boy?? Or a bully that I need to fight." Putting up a fist as she looked at the boys who were playing. They didn't notice what was going on.

Half time. Billy was drinking his water as he stares again at Marlow and now her granny. Not eve noticing what Billy was doing. "No granny. No boys. Cooties, remember." Granny wanted Marlowe to be little forever. That made her granny laugh. Marlow would ask the rest in the car cause it was to risky for her to ask.

"That's my girl."

"Thanks for dinner granny."

"You're welcome."

While it was still half time and Marlow went over to Billy cause she didn't see him eat before the game. Tapping on his shoulder. "Here. My granny made plenty." Handing him a tub of food.

Billy was shocked but didn't show it. He couldn't. Taking the tub. "Thanks. Billy remember?"

"I know. But California suits you better." With a small smile, Marlow turned around. "And don't worry about bringing it back." Heading back sitting next to granny.

"Isn't it that the boy who bully's Steve?"

"Yeah." Billy and her locked eyes as he was out in the court just before the the rings. "But I feel like something else is going on. Don't you feel that?" Turning her head to face her granny.

Granny nods as the game continues. Their team won. As everyone cheered that they won. Steve drove granny and Marlowe home.

Next day, Billy acted all big shot like he was the only one that won the game. Leaning against Marlowe's locker. "Uh thanks again for dinner."

Grabbing her books for her next class. "You're welcome."

"Can I ask why you gave it to me instead of Steve?"

"Steve doesn't eat before or during the game. Besides granny made plantey that he had his own." Seeing a new bruise on his cheek bone. Letting out a quick sigh. "Whoever gave you that I hope you have him hell."

Shrugging as he looked away from her. "Yeah, he got it worst."

"I hope you got an ice pack and that you wrap it up in a shirt." Shutting her locker door.

"Why would I?"

"Well, I was always told that you should do that.. but what do I know, I'm not a nurse or a doctor." With a sigh as she sees Tommy and Tina with Heather. "See ya later." Walking away from Billy. She did turn to see him but he was high fiving each other.

Homework after homework, gathering all her books into two bags she met up with Steve. Dustin headed over to Steve's car as well seeing Marlowe awaiting for Steve.

"Mar! Is Steve coming out soon?"

"Uh yeah. At least I hope so. Anything I can help you with?" Placing her stuff into the car.

"I was wondering if he could give Lucas and I a ride. You see my bike has a whole in it and so is Lucas." Lucas came over later.

"I'm sure he wouldn't mind." Billy came out and headed to his car. He saw Marlowe talking to the kids. Steve came out as well. "Speaking the devil himself. Steve do you mind giving a ride to our friends?"

"Oh I guess. But I'm not a taxi service."

"And your a butt hole." She winks at Steve.

The kids got in as Max got over to Billy. billy got into the car along with Max. "Do you know much about Marlowe?"

"Other than being Steves cousin? No. But she sometimes hangs out with the kids. But otherwise no."

"I want you to stay away from them."

"Why?" Max didn't understand.

"Because shit bird I said so."

"Fine." Knowing that she won't cause they are in her class and she really doesn't listen to him anyways.

Getting ready Billy found a one night stand type of girl that he would take out and have a little fun, no idea that Steve and Marlowe was at the same place for dinner. They sat near, Steve and Marlow.

"Do you know when your dad is coming back?" Steve asked.

"No. And besides, granny and my aunt and uncle's will be out for the night. You know I hate being alone in that house." It was a farm house. Sometimes it gave her the creeps.

"Are you going to tell him about what you are planning to do?"

"Not yet." Sipping on her water.

Leaning back in the booth. Changing subject "Of course you hate being alone there. You could had gone to bingo with granny."

"Last time I did that, I was told that I brought bad luck to them. So that a hard core no." They both laugh.

"Granny told that to you as well? At least I'm not along in that part." Steve chuckles.

"Oh yeah. Knowing grandad will be home soon, we might as well get going. You know how he is." Placing her coat over her shoulders.

"I thought grandad was in a nursing home?"

"No. Granny can't bare herself to do it. I mean it's our grandpas dad. So granny feels like she couldn't do that to him." Marlowe paid for their dinner since two weeks ago he paid.

"I guess. Good for her."

Billy watched them get up as he stopped Marlowe. "Ah the Harringtons."

Marlowe pointed to Steve. "He's a Harrington.  I'm Macmillan." Steve rolled his eyes knowing that she's a Harrington since his parents adopted her.

Smacking his lips as he sighed with an ah. "Well what the two of you out and about at this time? Isn't time for your bedtime?" Joking with Steve.

Steve was ready to fight for himself. But Marlowe stepped in. "Oh like it's time to get your rocks on with a girl that you'll never see again." Looking down his at his crotch. "I'd say you already are." She winks at Billy. "Have fun." Pulling Steves jacket to the door.

As they exited the building. Steve aggressively sighed. "I could defend myself."

"Yes as much as I know you can. It's not worth a fight." They got into the car. Leaving them both chuckling into the car.
