Ten more weeks until Marlowe can have her surgery, never been so excited. Fresh start to her new happier life. Not carrying what others will think of her anymore.
Billy could tell the changes within Marlowe, he was proud of her making so many changes. Working on herself, exercising, eating less. He still hasn't been around her as much as he would like too. Marlowe had stopped smoking, which he could never do.
Outside waiting for Max, Billy watched Marlowe waking by herself. "Mars!" Shouting for her. Turning her head as she sorta smiled at him. "Come here."
Marlowe heads over. "Yeah?"
"You're looking good. You look much happier."
"Oh, uh thank you. Granny can tell I lost a lot. But I just don't see it." Marlowe looked at her body as she shook her head. "How've you been, California?"
Lighting up his cigarette. "Alright, ready for this hellhole be over with." Billy inhales then exhale the smoke.
"Same."
Looking for Marlowe's car. "Where's you baby?"
"I sadly had to sell her for real this time." With a sad sigh. "But it had to be done, so I can help with bills and whatnot." Shrugging her shoulders. Hitting her head as she took out her wallet and gave Billy money. "Granny asked me to give this to you. I think it's for mowing this weekend or next." Marlowe didn't remember what weekend.
Quickly taking it. "Oh yeah. This weekend. So, what are you doing this weekend?" Taking out his wallet.
"Hopefully going to the movies with the boys. But knowing pretty boy he might have a girl coming with us." Putting her wallet away. "You?"
'Out with the boys' Wishing that he was one of them. "Oh, uh I applied for a job at the pool. Hey, I might see you there."
'Swimming... yikes. I'm not letting your friends body shame me.' Marlowe quickly thought. "We'll see." Marlowe wouldn't be because of her surgery. Maybe later she might.
" 'K, lettme know and I could teach you how to swim." Billy smirked. Then putting the cigarette back into his mouth.
"I already know how to swim. Thanks though." The cackle laughter coming from Cat made Marlowe's skin crawl but did her best of not letting it bother her. "I gotta go." Leaving Billy as she went to Tyler's car because it was his turn to drive.
Billy hated to see her go but liked seeing her waking away. "See ya." Then Cat showed up. "So, our friends were wondering if we could have a double date?"
"A double date?" Billy repeated the question.
"Yes." Cat looked at him with her doey eyes. She was overly excited.
"And who are we going to bring?" Billy was confused, yes, he did like Cat. But not enough to truly date her. He only hung out with her cause she hang out with Tommy and Tina.
"Well, it's me and you and Tommy and Tina, silly."
Billy sighed, his hand went to his forehead, his thumbnail did a little scratch, that was holding his cigarette. "We're not dating Cat."
Cat acted like Billy didn't say that. "So, we can go to the mall and then to the movie."
When Cat said movie, he thought of Marlowe. "Ah. Movie. When did they want to do this?"
"This weekend, or tomorrow. I'm not so sure."
"Can't tomorrow, this weekend maybe." Billy tossed the cigarette on to the ground after he was done using it.
Cat nods. "Alright so I'll call Tina then and tell her that."
Rolling his eyes as he got into the car, Max soon got into the car as well and they drove off. "Max?"
"What?"
"Is Marlowe interested in this British guy?"
"In like dating wise?"
"Yeah, shit wad."
Max looked out the window. "No. I mean she likes him. But nothing like dating wise and besides. She doesn't want to date anyways. Which is sad, she's awesome..." Max and Billy never had a nice conversation like this before. But school was almost out and when this happens means Max wouldn't always be home. Cause her friends would go to Granny's or other parents.
So, Billy might have a chance or something. Marlowe arrived home as she headed up to her room and started to throw away some of her clothing, they were getting to big on her. Changing into a new set of clothing, leggings and a crop top sweater. It looks very nice on her. The girls were coming over El and Max to have a nice sleepover since Billy could t watch Max for the night and Hopper was out of town for the night.
Billy took Max over to Marlowe's house, Marlowe took one step out of the house sorta waved, as Max grabbed her stuff from the back.
With one good look at her, his heart stopped. Max chuckled a bit. "You, okay?" Before shutting the door.
"Uh yeah. Have fun." Then he hit to reality. Marlowe wasn't his type he kept repeating in his head.
"See you tomorrow."
Billy drove off once Max shut the door. Max headed up to the house. Marlowe was excited to have a little girl's night. Movie, popcorn talk about boys if El and Max wanted too.
"Ready to have a fun night?" Marlowe asked.
"Yeah!" To Max it felt like it was forever, and they needed this.
Marlowe led Max into the living while El was putting the TV on to MT. In the bottom lit of Marlowe's stomach, she felt something was going to happen. Maybe to her or not. She just had a horrible gut feeling about something. But did her best to hide it so it wouldn't worry the girls.
Billy out partying, not thinking about anything or anyone really. Something in the air just didn't feel right, he ignores it like he normally does and just forced on drinking and dancing. About three hours he was done he got bored and left the party without telling Tommy since it was supposed to be a night out with Tommy. Driving around town he thought about Marlowe her curves fit her nicely. Stopping at a curve stop closing his eyes as the moon was shining bright. It was like telling him to go to her. Couldn't bring himself to do it.
The summer breeze hit Billy's face; he smiled. Shaking his head as he started up the car. Billy started the car back up.
