(A/N: I'm sorry, i just really love this gif... and Robin... ENJOY!)
*Maria's POV*
A little girl like me shouldn't have to go through experiences like this at such a young age. Or at least that's what Miss Heliotrope would say. Just a few days a go i would have disagreed with her. I would have told her that i wasn't a little girl and i should experience things on my own. But now, this is something completely different. It made me realize just how young i actually am and how much responsibility is placed on my shoulders .
This isn't my first encounter with death, i should be used to it by now? I mean, i lost my father and was forced to move here with my uncle, which didn't turn out too bad. Shouldn't this be the same?
I looked over the windowsill at the stained leaves below, along with a mangle of a body. Robin. I could have sworn i saw Robin's chest twitch in an attempt to breathe, but that could just be my imagination. If he were shot and fell from such an extreme height, he should be dead. But 'Should' Isn't always the answer. Like, A little girl shouldn't be playing in the woods, she should be helping out around the house. And that obviously isn't true. I'd rather be exploring the forest with Robin. Poor Robin.
Tears started tumbling down my red hot cheeks. I knew he probably didn't make it and that escaping these two feuding families was futile without him. He's probably dead. No, i could have sworn i saw him breathing. There! He did it again!
I scrambled out of my claustrophobic room and down the stairs, nearly tripping down them about ten times. I had to catch my breath at the bottom of the stairs because i was practically hyperventilating. If Robin was alive how would i help him? He got shot! I sprinted through the many rooms of the MoonAcre castle until i got to the front door. Unfortunately Miss Heliotrope and Uncle Benjamin had the unfortunate timing of stopping me on my endeavor out to Robin who was probably bleeding to death, if not already dead.
"Where are you running to?" Benjamin stood in front of the door to block my exit. I was bouncing and trembling with anxiety and energy at the same time.
"It is unladylike for you to run like a lunatic through the house!" Miss Heliotrope butted in as always. Figures, she wasn't worried about Why i was running, only that i was running.
"Robin-" I panted, hunching over, still unable to stabilize my breathing. "He- Robin was shot." I finally got out. The look on Uncle Benjamin's face was completely opposite from the look on Miss Heliotrope's odd features. Benjamin looked concerned and understanding, while Miss Heliotrope looked absolutely disgusted.
"Where is he?" Uncle Benjamin asked as i ushered them outside and around the mansion to Where Robin laid face down in the leaves. The foliage and dirt was stained a slick Crimson color that i could only assume was his blood, and there sure was a lot of it. I rushed over to Robin and turned him onto his back. There was a huge puncture hoole through his stomach, maybe only a few inches away from his heart and lungs. His face was pale, well, paler than usual and that concerned me.
"Oh dear, he's a bloody mess." Miss Heliotrope scoffed and hid her face in a long part of her dress. I didn't even have the heart nor motivation to make a comeback at her. I was too wound up in the fact that Robin is dying and i couldn't do a damn thing about it. By now i was in a sobbing fit, practically throwing a tantrum. "Oh, honey, it'll be okay... I'm sure Sir Benjamin knows what to do!" She chirped hopefully, only trying to cheer me up. I'm not that foolish though, i know when a person is dying. I went through all of this with my father but this was just like five times ample. I wanted to kick and scream and cry, but i knew that wouldn't help the situation at hand.
"Help her, i'll try my best to save Robin." Uncle Benjamin ordered. Miss Heliotrope just looked hopelessly confused.
"How am i supposed to do that?" She questioned to Benjamin who just waved his arm and rolled his eyes, then went to attempt to help Robin. "She wasn't like this with her father!"
"Well, cant you see she's In Love with this boy." Benjamin exclaimed in a mixture of frustration and impatience. I didn't want to admit it but i was. I was in love with Robin and i don't care who knows it anymore.
"Get up, sweetheart." I felt Miss Heliotrope's hand on my arm as she pulled me up to my feet as she escorted me (forcefully) back into the house.
I was kicking and screaming with all my might to get away from Miss Heliotrope, but somehow she was too strong and persistent. With one last effort, since i knew i wasn't going to be able to get away from Miss Heliotrope, i screamed, "I love you!".
It might have just been my imagination but i'm pretty sure i saw Robin's lips shift into a small, weak smile then go limp again.
