*Robin's POV*
There was an awful silence without Maria here, But she hated me. My legs tugged against my will to turn back to get her, but it took all my will to turn back and keep going forward. The birds cawed down at me as if they were mocking me. Trees rustled past me, but they weren't familiar to me. Maybe I was lost. Maybe in all the rage that coursed through my veins, I stumbled down the wrong path. My hunter instincts took into play as I crept down a narrow path between trees.
I wonder where Maria is? Did she just go back home? Oh what a stupid move that was to just leave her there. What if a pack of wolves found her? I know that's very unlikely but with my luck that would happen.
A shrill shriek from somewhere deep in the woods behind me made my heart pound. "Maria!" I called out and ran in the direction I heard it come from.
My friend poured out of the trees doubled over in laughter at my look of terror. "You should see your face, Robin!" He panted to catch his breath that he obviously lost from hysterically laughing at me.
"Not funny, Bernard" I glared at him in my best attempt not to hurt him.
"You really like this girl, don't you?" He wore a smug look upon his face that I don't think he could lose even if his life depended on it. He was the least of my worries. Bernard had an open mind, he didn't care who liked who or where they were from. I hated to admit it to him, but it was true.
"Uhh no" I lied.
"Liar, you love her." He mocked me. He smiled evilly then continued to talk when I refused to reply. "Ya know, your father won't let you run away with her, right?"
"I know" disappointment separated my voice.
"But I don't suppose you'll listen to him, now will you?"
I snorted. "Of course not" I continue to walk foward.
"And where is this 'Maria' girl at the moment?" He folded his arms over his chest. He knew something that I didn't, I could tell.
"Uh I don't know."
"I've heard that her friend is in town to visit her." He leaned against a tree.
"So?" I turned back to him and fixed the feathers around my neck. I don't know what he's trying to get at, but it doesn't seem good.
"Her friend happens to be a boy and this boy happens to like a certain girl," he fake coughs."Maria"
"How do you know all this, Bernard?" A smile spreads across my lips as I start to get nervous.
"I have my ways." He pretends to be not interested as he examines his bracelets that spread up his muscular arms. He glances at me for a brief second then turns his attention back to his beaded bracelets. "Well? Aren't you going to scare him off or something?"
Good point.
I hurry off back to the direction of the MoonAcre castle with Bernard walking behind me. It didn't take as long as I expected to get back to where we started, but Bernard struggled to catch his breath.
"Geez, Robin, slow down. I can't keep up!" He keeps his balance against a gnarled old tree that must've been burnt at one point In its life. I hadn't realized I had been sprinting down paths and through holes in the trees and their crooked branches.
"Sorry," I peered through a widespread bush that was speckled with purplish berries that were probably poisonous. Standing right in front of me was the marvelous MoonAcre castle and it's entrance. A carriage pulled up to the front doors and a boy poked his head out. He must've been at least sixteen and was dressed in a fancy suit that was made of the finest materials. He was handsome, no doubt about it. His hair was as dark as the midnight sky and his eyes were as blue as the ocean, specks of green floated within them.
I snarled at his every perfection and couldn't find any flaws.
Okay, it's go time.
