Alivia,
You can think that you've lost me all you want. You can think that !you're hidden and safe inside those damned holy walls. But you aren't.
I have two choices for you. You and Drea can either come outside and meet me in the next village. I just want to talk. Or, you can give me no choice but to get in there and talk with you by force.
The choice is yours. I'm giving you two days.
-Dimitri-
I trembled as I stared at the sinister piece of paper on the bed. He had found me. He had found me and Drea. How? How had he gotten this letter in here? In mine and Darius' room?
I had to tell Darius. I picked up the paper and was about to bolt from the room, then I saw writing on the back.
Oh, and don't even think about telling that boy you love so much.
Oh, God. He knew about Darius?
Tears pouring down my face, I sat on the edge of the bed with the note in my fist. Why did he keep doing this to me? Why did he have to ruin my life even further by invading it once again? What did I do to deserve this? Was he jealous that my life had been perfect for two years without him? Or was he just cruel enough to think that he could get anything he wanted, even me?
I felt so alone, all of a sudden, and crushed. I couldn't believe this. How could this be happening? Just when I thought I had finally gotten on solid ground, an invisible rug was yanked out from underneath me.
Dimitri was giving me two days, but I didn't know if he was really that patient. What if he attempted something tomorrow? What if he attempted something today?
That thought set me into action. I immediately grabbed a backpack and started filling it with stuff I thought I would need. An extra set of clothes, a pocket knife, the like. Also, I stuffed in a couple wooden stakes. I would need them to defend myself.
I decided not to tell Drea. She would get cocky or she would get completely pissed off and overreact. It was too dangerous.
Then Darius walked in just as I was about to leave.
"Alivia?" He asked, seeing the backpack on my shoulder. He looked confused. "What are you doing? What's going on?"
"I...uh..." I scrambled for a decent answer. I hadn't thought about what to tell Darius.
"What are you doing, Alivia?" He asked in a more demanding tone, like a father would.
I squared my shoulders and held my head high, trying to look strong even though he was a couple inches taller than me.
"I have to go somewhere for a couple days." I said. "I'll be back soon."
"Where?"
"That's none of your business."
"Why not?"
"Because I said so."
"Alivia!" He looked about ready to bang his head on the wall. "What the hell is going on?"
I slipped past him into the hallway. "It's best that you don't know, trust me on that."
"Is this about what I said earlier? I don't have any power over their decisions, Alivia." he pursued me down the corridor.
"It's not about that." I said. I sounded so vague, even I would have been suspicious. "I just have to take care of something. I promise I'll be back soon."
I had made it outside, where my little crimson Italian motorcycle waited for me. I put the backpack in the hidden compartment under the seat, then straddled the bike and revved the engine.
