Dimitri finally deposited me in his room again and locked the door behind him. I could have, easily broken through, but I knew that something would probably be waiting on the other side of the door.
When I turned, I saw Drea rifling through a pile of gaudy dresses.
"What are you doing?" I asked her, coming forward.
"I'm picking out a dress." She said cheerfully. Okay, that is definitely not like Drea. She wouldn't be caught dead in a dress like this. Hell, she couldn't even stand wearing a dress, period
"Why?"
"There is a masquerade tonight."
"Count me out." I muttered, flopping on the bed. Seconds later, I felt a bunch of cloth get dumped on me.
"Hey-!"
"Try it on before I beat your ass." Drea said firmly, sounding a little bit like herself for once.
I groaned and studied the dress. It was actually to my liking. It was a deep purple with a silver silk sash just below my chest accenting a sleeveless top. Thick yet light fabric made up the bottom part of it, a sprinkling of silver sparkles lining the hem. The skirt reached just above my knees in a more modern style. It was made of a chiffon-like material that made it look like a purple waterfall on my body.
I had allowed Drea to pin my hair up while staring at nothing miserably in the mirror. Drea put on my makeup and made me look beautiful, but I didn't want to look beautiful. Especially not for Dimitri.
The whole outfit came with a purple, exotically shaped mask with feathers and diamonds adorning it. A satin ribbon tied around the back of my head and held it in place. Drea picked out beautiful diamond bracelets and necklaces for me, adding them to my glamorous outfit.
The last thing was my shoes. Five inch stilettos in the same color scheme. Totally not my type but Drea threatened to beat my ass again if I didn't put the damn strappy death traps on, so I did anyway.
Drea's dress was made of silk, with a more traditional design. It was the same exact turquoise color of her eyes. It was a tight bodice with golden curly embroidery all over the front. It had a corset back and went over one shoulder. The skirt was long and flowing, with a triangular opening in the front like you often see in renaissance style dresses; gold was the color of the fabric in the gap with more embroidery accentuating the edge of the opening. She left her hair down with the front held out of her face with a crystal hair ornament. She had the kind of mask that was attached to a stick and you held up to your face all night.
I waited despairingly in the room with Drea until Dimitri came to get us.
He wore a black dress shirt, jeans and a mask with raven feathers on it, giving him the appearance of an evil black bird.
"Master." Drea breathed excitedly, flouncing up to him. I nearly gagged.
"Drea." He kissed her, then looked at me. "Alivia."
I glared at him.
"You both look beautiful."He said as he looped his arm through Drea's arm. He looked expectantly at me.
"I'm not going to leave you here all alone." He told me.
"I would actually love to stay here." I snapped.
"Please come over here." He said, annoyed.
I sighed as went over, crossing my arms. My bracelets jingled like little crystalline bells.
Dimitri looped his other arm through mine and I gave up trying to keep him from touching me. It was no use.
He led us to the grand ballroom, which was literally the size of a mansion in itself, and I gaped.
