"Oh, fuck it." Asher Rhett grumbled for the umpteenth time that day.

He had been trying to write a new mind-blowing novel for his fans, they had been requesting for something adventurous with much romance in it, but the more her wrote, the more he realizes it was not worth writing out if he was to maintain his dignity as a best time selling author.

"Give yourself a break, Asher." Arjun, his best friend told him.

"A break? No, what I need is to complete this outline today." He pointed out.

Arjun sighed as he watched Asher frantically type away at his laptop. It had been weeks since his friend had taken a break and it was starting to show in his writing. Arjun knew that Asher was a perfectionist, but this was getting out of hand.

"Look, why don't we take a walk? Get some fresh air and clear your head?" Arjun suggested.

Asher hesitated, but eventually nodded. As they walked, the sun setting in the distance, Arjun couldn't help but notice the tension that had been building between them. It wasn't just the pressure of Asher's writing, there was something else there too.

"You know, you don't always have to be in control." Arjun said, breaking the silence.

"What do you mean?" Asher asked, turning to look at his friend.

"I mean, sometimes it's okay to let go and see where things take you." Arjun replied, a mischievous glance towards Asher.

"Spit it out Arjun." Asher spoke.

"Why don't you try dating, a bit of romance in your life might help you find just the right thing to write." Arjun advices.

"Oh, hell no! You and I both know how my dating life is, total catastrophe, so no!" The writer disagreed.

"Oh? Do tell."

Asher let out a groan, but Arjun was not going to let him off the hook. "Come on, Asher. You can't just tease me with your disastrous dating life and not share the juicy details."

Asher rolled his eyes before conceding. "Fine. Remember when I went out with that girl I met at the coffee shop? The one I thought was so perfect?"

Arjun nodded, a smirk on his lips.

"Well, turns out she was a complete psycho. She didn't like the way I was dressed and made me go shopping with her. And then, when we finally sat down for our meal, she spent the entire time talking about her ex-boyfriend."

Arjun couldn't help but laugh. "Sounds like a nightmare."

"It was. And then there was the time I went on a date with that actress. She was beautiful, but it was like talking to a brick wall." He recollected.

Asher sighed and ran his hand through his short hair. "It's just...every time I try to date someone, it's like they only want me for my fame and money. I can't tell if they actually like me for me, or if they're just using me."

Arjun nodded, understanding where Asher was coming from. "I get it, man. But what if you meet someone who genuinely likes you for you? Someone who doesn't even know who you are?"

Asher raised an eyebrow. "And where would I find someone like that?"

Arjun smirked. "How about we make a bet? I bet you that you can't go on a date with someone without telling them you're a famous author."

"How will that even work?" Asher raised a brow.

"Dating app." Arjun replied like it was the most obvious thing.

"And how would you happen to know about this dating app?" Asher asked.

"Don't worry about that, are you in or not?" Arjun dismissed his question.

Asher thought for a moment before nodding. "Okay, I'm in."

Arjun grinned. "Great! Let's get you signed up."

As they walked back to Asher's apartment, Arjun pulled out his phone and downloaded the dating app. They worked together to create Asher's profile, making sure to keep his identity a secret. Asher couldn't help but feel a bit nervous and excited at the prospect of going on a date without the pressure of being a famous author.

"Great! Your 10 dates await!" Arjun declared after a while.

"What?"

Asher was taken aback. "I agreed to one date, not ten."

"Come on, Asher. You know how these things work. You have to go on at least ten dates to find the right one." Arjun argued.

Asher let out a groan but couldn't deny the logic behind Arjun's argument. He was about to protest when his phone pinged with a notification from the dating app. He opened it to see that he had already matched with someone.

"Who is it?" Arjun asked, peering over his shoulder.

Asher blushed as he read the message. "Her name is Lily. She seems nice."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Ask her out!" Arjun suggested.

Asher hesitated for a moment before typing out a message to Lily, asking her out for coffee. He sent it and waited anxiously for her reply. A few minutes later, his phone pinged again.

"She said yes!" Asher shouted, and like that his excitement ended.

"I'm going to cancel it." He declared.

Arjun looked at him incredulously. "What? No, you can't do that! You just said yes to her!"

Asher shook his head. "I can't do this, Arjun. What if she finds out who I am? What if she thinks I'm using her for a story? I can't take that risk."

Arjun sighed. "Look, if you don't want to go through with this, that's fine. But you have to admit, it could be a good thing for you. Maybe it's time to take a chance and see where it leads you."

Asher thought about it for a moment before nodding slowly. "Okay, I'll go on the date. But I still don't think this is a good idea."

Arjun grinned. "Trust me, Asher. This could be the start of something great."

"I doubt it, but let's see what tomorrow bring." Asher announced and decided to call it a night.

As he laid awake in bed, he couldn't help but let his mind wander on every possibility there is concerning the so called date.

"What if she's not looking for commitment?"

"What if she found out I'm famous and cling to me?"

He asked himself several questions.

In the end, he never went on that date.
