Recap:

After her shift, Lena went home and clicked on the link Ria had sent her. It led her to a website where she could register as a "prospect date". She filled out the necessary information and waited for a response.

Start:

The next day she woke up, it was to a notification from the link she registered. She had been linked to a man named Asher Rhett for a date.

Lena was nervous but had promised to go, so she prepared.

As she got dressed, after sending Kevin to school that morning, she got a knock on the door, it the owner of her apartment.

"Today is soon, Alena." She was the only one that called her by her full name.

"Oh hi Mrs..." She replied, but was cut off.

"Your pleasantries is not needed, just hand me my money." The woman handed her hand out with the other on her hip.

"You see the thing is I was going to cime straight to you tonight, I promise." Lena said with a pleading look.

The woman sighed and nodded, moving on to the next tenant to harass.

As Lena got ready for her date, the person she was supposed to be meeting was still on the bed, contemplating his life's decisions.

"Get dressed, you lazy ass. You have a date in the next three hours." Maya barged into Asher's room.

"What?! A date!?" He exclaimed, jumping out of bed

"Yes, a date, now get your lazy rude ass out of bed ans get dressed!" She all but commanded.

"But, you didn't tell me anything form the start." Ahaer complained.

"Yes, if I did you wouldn't have agreed." Maya resorted.

"Damn right, I wouldn't have. Maya, you really need to stop meddling and let me get to it at my own pace." Asher told her.

Maya raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Oh, come on. You know you're a hopeless romantic deep down inside."

Asher rolled his eyes and chuckled. "Yeah, yeah. I'll get ready."

He showered and put on a crisp white shirt and black pants. He combed his hair and put on a splash of cologne. He checked himself in the mirror and felt a rush of nerves. He had never been on a blind date before.

When he arrived at the restaurant, Lena was already seated at a corner table. She stood up as he approached, her eyes scanning him from head to toe.

"Hi, you must be Asher," she said, extending her hand. "I'm Lena." His face looked awfully familiar to her.

Asher shook her hand, feeling a jolt of electricity. "Nice to meet you, Lena." He felt like he has seen her before as well.

It had been a few weeks and it seemed like they had both forgotten each other's faces. Or so it seems.

They sat down and ordered drinks. They made small talk at first, both of them feeling a bit awkward. But as the day wore on, realization dawned on Asher.

"Did you work at a club or something?" He asked her.

"Yes, I work as a cleaner at nightly night, the one down the street, why do you ask?" She replied

"Oh, your face looks familiar and I thought you look like a stripper/whore I met before." As he uttered those words, Lena's eyes narrowed at him.

"Of course, it's just my luck." She rolled her eyes. "You're the rude asshole." She stood up, making him realize she was indeed the girl from the club.

"It's you..." He pointed, but before he could say another word, she cut him off.

"Just so you know, you need to learn how to talk to people, if not you'll never get anywhere in life. Have a good day." Lena said sharply and left without looking back.

Asher blinked once.
Twice.

"Oh Wow." He muttered and stop up feeling embarrassed already.

He knew he had messed up. He had been rude and judgmental to her at the club, and now he had ruined a potential date with someone he was genuinely interested in.

He sat there for a few minutes, contemplating what to do next. He knew he had to make it up to her somehow. He quickly paid the bill and dashed out of the restaurant.

He eventually caught up with Lena a few blocks away. He jogged up to her and stopped her in her tracks.

"I'm sorry." He said, catching his breath. "I didn't mean what I said earlier. I was being a jerk. Can we start over?"

Lena looked at him for a moment before answering. "No! "

Asher knew he messed up big time. He couldn't believe he had just insulted the person he was supposed to be on a date with. He felt like a complete idiot.

He wanted to apologize, but he knew it was too late. Lena had already left the restaurant. He sat there for a few minutes, feeling sorry for himself, before finally deciding to leave.

As he walked down the street, he couldn't help but think about Lena. He knew he had messed up, but he also knew that he wanted to see her again. He didn't want their first meeting to be their last.

The next day, he decided to go back to the club where he had met Lena. He knew it was a long shot, but he had to try. He walked up to the bouncer and asked if he could speak to Lena.

The bouncer looked at him skeptically. "Do you have an appointment?"

"No, I don't," Asher replied, feeling nervous.

"No entry then."

That night, he walked home like a man beaten by rain.
