Reluctantly, Asher got out of bed, he didn't want to go on another blind date, but his friends were not having it.

"It's just two more, ans I'm sure this person might just be what you want." Arjun had told him.

He scoffed, "the right person my ass." But he got ready anyways.

Upon getting to their place of rendezvous, he had to wait at least two hours before the lady came.

Asher was getting impatient, his eyes glued to his phone as he scrolled through his social media feeds. He was about to leave when he saw a woman walking towards him. She was tall, with long brown hair that cascaded down her back, and she wore a simple dress that hugged her curves in all the right places.

As she approached him, she smiled, and Asher couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. Not at her beauty, but because she seemed to be trying a little too much.

She was wearing a lot of make up.

"Hi, sorry for the delay, I hope you haven't been waiting long," she said, her voice soft but a fake kind of soft.

Like she was trying too hard to be feminine.

Asher shook his head, "No, not long at all." He stood up from the bench where he had been waiting and extended his hand. "I'm Asher."

The woman took his hand, her grip firm and confident. "I'm Valeria, but you can call me Ria" she said, her eyes sparkling, and not in a good way. Probably the contacts she was wearing.

Their conversation flowing easily, almost as if it was rehearsed, as they talked about everything from their favorite movies to their dreams.

"I don't care how I do it, I just want to end up rich, and I am being truthful here, do you like me being truthful?" Ria flustered her lashes in an attempt to look cute.

Like that, a sense of recognition flushed over Asher, "Do I know you?" He asked out of the blue.

Ria who was waiting for that question, beamed and got hee plans into action. The facade she was holding up flew away and she brought up her true color. Only slightly tho.

"Yeah, I work in the same place as Lena, you know the plum lady with irregular shape, she has a son, you know and she probably doesn't know who the father is." She spoke in a disgusting tone.

Her attitude disgusted Asher to the core, but he was willing to sit through the date to hear more of what she has to say.

Ria continued to talk about her work and how she took advantage of her colleagues to climb the corporate ladder. Asher couldn't believe the arrogance and ruthlessness in her words. He wondered how someone could be so heartless, but the answer was clear. Ria was someone who had no moral compass and was willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead in life.

As the night progressed, Asher couldn't wait for the date to be over. He was counting down the minutes until he could leave and never see Ria again. But just as he was about to suggest they call it a night, Ria leaned in and kissed him.

It was a sudden move, and Asher was taken aback. He pulled away, his heart racing, and his mind struggling to comprehend what just happened.

"What was that for?" he asked, his voice a mix of surprise and disapproval.

"I just wanted to give you a taste of what you could have if you play your cards right." Ria whispered seductively, moving closer to Asher.

But Asher was not interested. He pushed her away gently and stood up from the bench. "I'm sorry, but I don't think this is going to work out," he said firmly.

Ria's face twisted in anger. "What do you mean it's not going to work out? We haven't even tried yet," she spat.

Asher shook his head, "I can't be with someone who has no moral compass. Someone who is willing to step on others just to get ahead in life."

Ria's face turned red with fury. "Oh, you're just like all the other guys. You can't handle a woman who knows what she wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it," she hissed.

But Asher didn't care. He knew what he wanted, and it wasn't someone like Ria. He turned and walked away, leaving her standing there alone.

The night was still young, and Asher didn't want to go home yet. He walked down the street, trying to clear his mind. He couldn't believe how wrong the date had gone. He had never met someone so ruthless and self-absorbed.

As he walked, he heard a faint sound of a guitar playing in the distance. Curiosity got the better of him, and he followed the sound. The music led him to a small bar, hidden in an alleyway. It was a dimly lit place, with a few people scattered around the room, all lost in their own world.

Asher took a seat at the bar, and the bartender greeted him with a warm smile. "What can I get you?" she asked.

"A whiskey, neat please," Asher replied, his eyes scanning the room.

The bartender poured him a drink, and he sipped it slowly, enjoying the warmth that spread through his body. The guitar playing had stopped, and a man had come up stage.

Apparently it was a special evening where anyone could come up to sing as their heart desires.

Asher wished so much that someone was with him, although he could not figure out who he wanted by his side, but definitely not who he spent the early hours of his night with.

He decided to song something that had to do with longing for an unknown thing.

As he took the mic, Asher felt the weight of the world lift off his shoulders. He closed his eyes and let the music guide him. His voice was raw and emotional, filled with a longing he couldn't explain. He sang about love, heartbreak, and the unknown. The audience was captivated, some even swaying to the beat of the music.

He went home with a confused smile on his face, and his mind running on how to expose Ria to Lena without hurting her feelings.

She was too precious, even if he doesn't know it yet.
