Lena's mouth hung open.
For the first time in her life she felt so embarrassed of herself.
The man whose company she had been keeping had just called her a whore.
"Get out!" She pointed to the door.
"Gladly." Asher said and left.
When Maya saw Asher walk through the door of the room assigned to him for his special dance, she got curious.
"That was fast." She wiggled her brows.
"Lets go, now!" Asher didn't bother waiting for response before walking to where the car was parked.
Maya and Arjun looked each other in the ehs ans followed their friend out the club.
"Maya, please for the love of God, don't ever do something like that again." Asher looked at her.
"What happened?" She asked.
"She was behaving like whore in there, you said it was a dance, but she was beginning to tiuch me, I don't like it." He explained and Maya's mouth dropped open.
"Let me guess, you insulted her." Arjun concluded.
"Yeah..." Thinking back at his action, Asher knew that was disrespectful and rude.
"You rude man!" Maya slapped him at the back of the head and folded her hands against her chest. A sign that she was angry.
After Asher left tge room, Lena dropped on the bed and wept. That as how Dawn met her.
"Hey, what's wrong." Dawn asked, rushing forward to pull the upset woman into her arms.
"Nothing... I should get going now." Lena rushed out like something waa chasing her.
It was that night that she made a vow go get a different job, she was done being a stripper.
The next day, she walked into the club to talk to the owner that she would like the job of a cleaner there at the club.
As she walked up to the owner's office, Lena gathered the courage to knock on the door. When the door opened, she saw the man working on some papers. She could not help but wonder how a man like him could be the owner of a strip club. He looked like he belongs at a more prominent organization
"May I help you?" the man asked, eyeing her up and down.
"Yes, sir. I would like to work as a cleaner in your club. I'm done with my old job, and I need a new start," Lena said, trying to sound confident.
The owner looked at her carefully, seeming to consider her request. "You know we don't usually hire cleaners, but I could use some help around here. I'll hire you on a trial basis. If you do a good job, we'll see about making it permanent."
Lena felt relieved. She was willing to do anything to get out of her stripping job.
"Thank you so much sir, I won't disappoint." She paused, remembering how she was promised certain amount for the dance she did.
"Sir, how about the tip I was promised?"
"Oh that, I am sorry but the customer left unsatisfied, so no tip." The man replied.
"Oh okay." Lena could not help but scold herself inside. Of course the customer had left unsatisfied.
She left the club, going straight to her day job, she was working the afternoon shift.
"Hi Ria." She greeted her colleague and friend.
"Oh hey Lena, good timing! I have the perfect opportunity for you." Ria exclaimed.
"Oh? What is it about?"
"Okay, so there's this ad I saw online that you can register for. You get to go on dates with a man you don't know, it could lead to something, but if it doesn't you still get paid." Ria explained.
"So, like subtle prostitution?" Lena question with a disgusted look on her face.
Ria shook her head. "No, not at all. It's more like a matchmaking service. You just have to go on a date and see if you click with the guy. And if not, you still get paid for your time."
Lena was hesitant at first, but the thought of getting paid for just going on a date was tempting. Plus, it could be a chance for her to start over and meet someone new.
"Yeah, it still sounds like subtle prostitution, since you'll be getting paid for your time." She just really wanted to do away with anything that'll give her a bad label.
Ria rolled her eyes. "It's not prostitution, Lena. It's just a different way to meet new people and make some extra cash. Plus, you're not obligated to do anything you don't want to do."
Lena hesitated, but the thought of making more money without having to strip was tempting. "Okay, I'll try it out."
"Of course, girl. You won't regret it, I'll send you the link." Ria said with a smile.
"I said I'll try it out, I don't mean now."
"It's time limited Lena, it's now or never." Ria said.
"B-b-but." She stuttered
"If it's any consolation, I've registered too, I get to go on a date as well." Ria told her excitedly.
"Ugh! Fine, send me the link." She conceded.
After her shift, Lena went home and clicked on the link Ria had sent her. It led her to a website where she could register as a "prospect date". She filled out the necessary information and waited for a response.
