"You asshole! How dare you kiss my girl?" Arjun shouted on the other side of the phone.

Asher looked shocked.

"Kissed your girl? If you had listened to her you would know she kissed me, and you stupid man, you cheated on her? How dare you!" Asher's voice got deeper the more angry he became.

Arjun scoffed, "You're lying. She would never do that to me."

Asher's eyes narrowed, "Believe what you want, but the truth is that she kissed me and I stopped her. I didn't want to get in between you two, but it looks like you already did that yourself."

Arjun was taken aback by Asher's words. He knew he had cheated on his girlfriend, but he didn't expect Asher to be so blunt about it.

"Look, man, I'm sorry. I messed up. I don't know what to do," Arjun said, his voice filled with regret.

Asher sighed, "I can't help you with that. You need to talk to her and figure out where you both stand. But let me tell you, if you ever try to hurt her again, you'll have to deal with me."

"I am sorry, I couldn't help myself." Asher scoffed at Arjun words.

"You couldn't help yourself? That's not an excuse, man. You made a conscious decision to cheat on her. Don't try to justify it with some weak excuse."

Arjun let out a deep breath, feeling ashamed of his actions. "I know, and I'm not trying to justify it. I just wish I could go back and change things."

Asher's tone softened a little. "I understand. But what's done is done. All you can do now is own up to your mistake and try to make things right."

Arjun nodded, grateful for Asher's straightforwardness. "Thanks for being honest with me, man. I needed to hear that."

"No problem. Just make sure you treat her right from now on. She deserves someone who will love and respect her."

Arjun hung up the phone, feeling a sense of clarity wash over him. He knew he had a lot of work to do to make things right with his girlfriend, but he was determined to make things right.

Asher's words had been cut off so, he decided to rest instead.

Lena couldn't help but think she was had made a mistake, suggesting that she and Asher became friends. She really didn't have time for friends in her life right now.

"Mummy? I made a friend in school today." Kevin called to his mom.

Lena was surprised, because on occasions many had her son reported being bullied for not having a father or having a mom that is never around.

"That's great, Kevin. What's your new friend's name?" Lena asked, trying to hide her excitement.

"His name is Maverick. He's really cool and he knows how to play soccer," Kevin responded with a grin on his face.

"Wow, I'm happy for you, Kevin. Maybe you can invite him over sometime and we can all hang out," Lena suggested, trying to sound nonchalant.

Kevin nodded, "That would be great. Can we go get some ice cream now?"

Lena smiled at her son, feeling grateful for the distraction. They left the house and went to their favorite ice cream place, chatting about Kevin's day at school.

"You know, I made a new friend too." Lena confessed.

"That's good Mummy, you have been lonely." Kevin said nonchalantly, going back to his Icecream.

Lena's face heated up. Had her son noticed her loneliness?

"What do you mean lonely, Kevin?"

"You told me that friends are good, but you never told me you had friends, and you're always sad, so I figured you didn't have friends. But now that you do, I know you'll be happier." The little boy replied intelligently.

"Oh." Lena didn't know her son was that insightful, it was nice.

But, if only the little child knew what was in her mind ninety percent of the time.

His soul would be tainted.
Some things are better left unsaid.

"Come on, time to go." She urges and they walked home in silence, both with lots on their mind.

Kevin feeling guilty for lying to his  mother, Lena thinking of ways to conceal her sadness.
