Arjun sat down with his hands in his lap, as Maya's face was filled wity tears.
Despite having a child together, Maya still couldn't believe that Arjun could cheat on her.
"Why? How?" She asked in a broken voice. Her weeping reducing to silent sob.
Arjun hung his head, feeling every inch the scoundrel he was. He had thought he could get away with it, that he could have his cake and eat it too. But now, seeing the devastation on Maya's face, he knew he had made a grave mistake.
"I don't know, Maya," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I was stupid. I was selfish. I thought...I thought I could have it all. But I was wrong."
Maya shook her head, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand. "I don't understand. How could you do this to us? To our family?"
Arjun took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he knew was coming. "I don't have an excuse," he said. "All I can do is tell you how sorry I am, and promise that I will do everything in my power to make it up to you. To make it up to our child."
Maya shook her head, her eyes filled with anger and disbelief. "You think I'm just going to forgive you like that?" she said, her voice rising. "After everything we've been through, after all the promises you made to me, you think you can just cheat on me and expect me to forgive you?"
Arjun took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. He knew he had to be honest with Maya, even if it meant losing her forever.
"I don't expect you to forgive me," he said, his voice breaking, knowing fully well he was going to have to work for her forgiveness.
"I know I've hurt you deeply, and I can't take back what I've done, but I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I want to prove to you that I'm worthy of your forgiveness, that I can be the man you deserve."
Maya's tears began to subside, replaced with a look of contemplation. She didn't know if she could ever fully forgive Arjun, but seeing the pain and regret in his eyes, she knew he was sincere in his apology.
"I need time, Arjun," she said, her voice still shaky. "I need time to process this, to figure out what I want. But I can't promise you anything right now."
Arjun nodded, a weight lifting off his shoulders. He knew it was going to be a long road ahead, but he was willing to do whatever it took to make it right.
"I understand, Maya," he said, his voice filled with determination. "
He left the house, seeking solitude in the one place he knew he would find one. Asher.
"What do you want?" Asher asked in exasperation, not expecting to see the person that broke his best friends heart.
"Can I stay her for a little while please?" Arjun sighed.
"Fine!" Asher had no choice but to be there for his friend.
That night they talked and Asher suggested, a day out between the three of them might just do the trick, for old time sake.
"Thanks Asher, I owe you man."
"Speaking of owing, you can pay back by deleting that dating app you registered in my name, my phone has been blowing up man." Asher negotiated.
"Uh uh, no cam do, you're going to finish your dates. You've only gone on one." Around hook his head.
"Now I'm beginning to contemplate kicking you out of my house."
"Pweatty pwease."Arjun rubbed his hand as he spoke in a little child's voice.
"Get that look off of your face, you know where the guest room is." Asher stated and walked away.
"Oh bummer, I thought I get to sleep with you and get my own kids." Arjun pouted.
"Don't push it." The writer warned with a hearty chuckle.
He knew his friend was just trying to get his mind into one place, he indulged him.
"So, a new day in the next few days!" The playful man shouted before locking his door, leaving Asher with his mouth open.
"Ugh!"
The next morning, asher was woken up by Maya screaming in his ears.
"Rise amd shine lazy! Its a new date!" Already catching up to her insinuation, he grumbled.
"Oh come on! I get it why the two of you love each other now, you're both a menace, get off me you creep go and disturb your boyfriend for a bit." Asher rolled to the other side, to get more sleep.
"He's here?" Maya inquired in a soft voice.
"Yes he is and today we're having a day out, just us three, so that means no date miss! In your face, ha!" Asher mocked.
"What?"
"Are you deaf now?" He raised a brow.
