" ... The engagement of Princess Laena Velaryon and Lord Bennard Stark was another beautiful celebration in King's Landing, although this one was a more somber occasion as King Viserys was weaker now, ever since his daughter's wedding. What started as a celebration turned sour, when Queen Alicent announced that Princess Rhaellanne was betrothed to wed Lord Genald Baratheon, and the Princess reacted with anger, shouting at her stepmother and betrothed in front of everyone, to no one's surprise. Lord Genald Baratheon was a known drunk and violent man who fucked his way through any woman he wanted and beat boys to a pulp, and to see the once vibrant Princess devastated by the betrothal was a pain to everyone ... "

It had been a few weeks since Rhaenyra and Laenor's wedding, and for a while it had seemed that life at court was going back to its regular, dull, sort of routine. The only difference was that the Baratheons had stayed on since the wedding, under the pretence of wanting to visit their distant family, but Rhaellanne knew the real reason.

With every passing that day that went by without word from Daemon, she grew more and more nervous because she knew that while she lay in her bed every night, the Baratheon men and Alicent plotted down below about ensuring her marriage to Genald.

Genald too had become a pain in her side because he was constantly following her and pestering her with questions about their life when they married, which had forced Rhaellanne to resort to sneaking out of her room to the dragon pit whenever she had a spare moment.

He had dared to mention her virtue once.

With an arrogant smirk he had boasted that he had been with so many women he knew how to handle a woman who was "tight". Rhaellanne had slammed a door in his face and ran to the gardens for some air before she threw up.

She hated this. She hated that she had no way to stop it.

Alicent was the Queen, and with the King attending fewer meetings and Rhaenyra gone people turned to Alicent for answers and the Queen was slowly rearranging the King's Council to follow her new rules.

Rhaellanne was a second born and a woman, she understood what that meant now.

She had no right to speak up against the King and Queen.

Everything Rhaellanne wanted she had to fight for, but right now Rhaellanne had nothing worth fighting for without Daemon.

She wanted to take Cannibal and burn Storm's End to the ground and then let him devour Genald Baratheon in front of his family to teach everyone in the realm that she would not wed a man of someone else's choosing.

However, her father wanted peace. He had inherited decades of peace from King Jahaerys and much of his rule had been based on the philosophy that keeping peace within the Seven Kingdoms was the only way to remain in power.

Rhaenyra would now be expected to follow in those footsteps. She was a woman and when she became Queen she would be responsible for everyone in the realm, and held accountable for every drop of blood spilled. Rhaellanne could not allow her sister to inherit a war between the Targaryens and Baratheons all because of one arrogant ass.

Rhaellanne was lonely at court. Her father was growing weaker by the day and spent more time in bed then ever, Alicent was conspiring to ensure her demise, Rhaenyra and Laenor were off on their honeymoon tour, and Daemon was still in the Vale.

So when the Hand summoned her down to the council meeting room one morning, she was surprised because she had not been attending any of these meetings in an age.
