PERCY

Lots of screaming, and mostly from Sen.

"Thermos!" Percy howled as the boat hurtled toward the water.

"What?" Annabeth must've thought Percy had lost his mind. She was holding on to the boat straps for dear life, her hair flying straight up like a torch.

Sen was screeching like some sort of owl, or maybe a deranged monkey. Like Annabeth, she was holding onto the straps for dear life, and her hair went straight up. Unlike Annabeth, she was upside down and her feet went straight into the air.

"Thermos!" Percy repeated.

Tyson understood. He managed to open Percy's duffel bag and take out Hermes's magical thermos without losing his grip on it or the boat.

Arrows and javelins whistled past the boat.

Sen somehow screamed a little louder as one of her hands broke free. Percy was about to give up on the thermos and grab her, but Tyson, again, proved useful, and scooped up Sen in one of his arms the way one might scoop up a cup of cereal.

Percy grabbed the thermos and hoped he was doing the right thing. "Hang on!"

"I am hanging on!" Annabeth snapped. Sen had stopped screaming, but was rather focusing on her arrow-leg with wide, buggy eyes. Very buggy eyes.

"TIGHTER!" Percy yelled.

He hooked his feet under the boat's inflatable bench, and as Tyson grabbed Annabeth and Percy by the backs of their shirts, with Sen grabbing (clinging, really) onto Percy, Percy gave the thermos cap a quarter turn.

Instantly, a white sheet of wind jetted out of the thermos and propelled the boat sideways, turning their downward plummet into a forty-five-degree crash landing.

The wind seemed to laugh as it shot from the thermos, like it was glad to be free. As the boat hit the ocean, it bumped once, twice, skipping like a stone, then it was whizzing along like a speed boat, salt spray in everyone's faces and nothing but sea ahead.

Percy heard a wail of outrage from the ship behind them, but they were already out of weapon range. The Princess Andromeda faded to the size of a white toy boat in the distance, and then it was gone.

Sen must've figured they were relatively safe. She rolled away and stared at the arrow in her leg.

Celestial bronze.

"Annabeth, what will that do?" Percy whispered, trying not to freak Sen out.

"Um-" Annabeth frowned. "I... don't... know..."

Sen tapped it and immediately winced. "It didn't hit the bone. I'll be able to walk. I just need it out. Can somebody get me an old sock and something to bite?"

"Wait, Sen." Percy shook his head. "You can't possibly take that out yourself. Let Annabeth or- hell, let me do it."

"I popped my shoulder back in after it was dislocated."
