PERCY

"Fuck, it's you."

Percy tried to mask how that made him feel. In the past, when he and Sen would reunite, it was glorious. Sparks bounced off their bodies every time as they hugged the other, and got to see the changes that had presented. This time, it felt more like a dagger was jabbed in Percy's gut, then twisted around, and then she stomped on his face.

She was very pretty despite somehow also looking terrible. Her face, again, did not look older, but timeless. Like she could be anywhere between fifteen and twenty-five. She looked like she'd been working out a little more, or exercising a lot, because her fluffiness had kind of chiseled more into muscles. Her hair was even darker than last summer- black, fading into blue. Her eyes glittered in a way that Percy couldn't place, but he knew it wasn't excitement. She didn't sound very happy to see him.

"Nice to see you, too." Percy mumbled, looking down at his shoes.

Paul Blofis walked over. "Oh dear, is everything okay?"

Sen looked like she had a snarky comment, but she bit her tongue and glanced at Percy, almost saying Please, take the wheel. Percy didn't know if he was angry at her or happy to see her, but he took the wheel.

"Let's just go." Percy mumbled as he turned away.

Paul took his shoulder and whispered, "Percy, maybe go easy on her?"

Percy really wanted to explode and tell Paul about all the shit he'd been through with Sen, and how going easy seemed harder than climbing a mountain, but he knew that Paul meant the best. "I'll go wait in the car, Paul."

"No need!" The weird bald officer smiled. "She's all good to go."

Sen shoved her hands in the pockets of her fur coat and walked forward. As she got closer- nearly touching Percy- he felt more and more upset. Paul waved and said goodbye, and the trio left the police station. The Prius was parked right around the side of the building.

"Sen," Paul sounded like a disappointed father, and Percy saw Sen actually flinch and cower a bit. "what happened?"

She bent down and picked up an old soda and tossed it away. "Just what they said. Got busted with the Mary Jane."

"You're being too casual about it." Percy mumbled. "Drugs, Sen? Really?"

Sen glared at him. "Look, I've already dealt with enough judgement and bullshit for one day, Percy. Just drop me off somewhere and I'll take a cab back to camp."

"You're already about to run away?" Percy fired, turning to face her. Everyone stopped walking as Sen looked up at him. She looked utterly exhausted. He didn't remember the last time she scowled for so long, or... well, or when she wasn't happy to see him.

"Look, I'm not trying to be rude." Sen insisted. "But I've been up since yesterday morning, I'm starving, and I have some people I gotta check up on."

"You said-" Percy cut himself off for Paul's sake. "You lied to me."

Sen blinked. "Yeah, I'm well a-fucking-ware."
