SEN

˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀

It took mere seconds for Sen to pass out. The past week had been so brutal on her mental and physical health, she couldn't help but succumb to the magic of lotus-scented silk sheets, air conditioning, and a clean body.

When she woke up, the only other person that was in the room was Annabeth. In her sleep, Percy must've left, because Sen was face-down in the sheets like she'd fallen from his shoulder. She assumed he and Grover were doing the average boy thing, which meant at this moment, they were likely playing enough video games to give themselves an aneurysm.

"Oh. You're up." Annabeth commented as she looked away from the TV. "They went to go play. I offered to stay with you."

Sen wiped her eyes as her swaddle came undone. "You didn't need to do that. I could have found you all just fine." After all, she could find Grover's non-mortal soul from a mile away, and his nose would've sniffed out Percy and Annabeth quickly. "You don't need to keep yourself from having fun just so I can have nap time." Sen slipped out of the bed, stretching as she stood up. She must've slept really good, since every bone in her body popped, she made a funny noise when she stretched, and she had mattress marks on her cheek.

Annabeth shut off the TV and rose from her spot. "Wanna go sneak up on Percy and scare him?"

Sen smiled. "Hell yeah!"

Halfway to the elevator, Sen remembered what had happened. "Hey, Annabeth?"

"Yeah?"

"Why does Percy not like Travis?"

"He thinks Travis is 'stealing you'." Annabeth said. "He won't admit it in exact words, but he's weirdly possessive over you. I think he just feels... protective, or something. He and Grover were your only friends after you lost your memory, right?"

Sen nodded.

"Well, maybe he feels like he and Grover should remain your only friends. Maybe he feels like only he can help you, or something. Not in a bad way, but in a way that a twelve-year-old boy might behave." Annabeth shrugged. "Haven't you ever been like that with anyone?"

"Can't say that I have." Sen answered. "But, I think I understand what you mean. Like when a cousin is closer to their other cousin than you?"

"More or less, but Percy definitely doesn't see you as a cousin." Annabeth nodded. She clicked the button for down, and the golden doors of the elevator sprung open. Sen tapped the button for the ground floor, and the elevator started moving.

"How does he see me?" Sen wondered.

"Well, how do you see him?"

"As one of my best friends."

Annabeth squinted. "One of? You used to say he was your only best friend."

Sen bit her lip. Could she trust Annabeth? Would Annabeth do something rash? She studied Annabeth. She wouldn't peek into her head- that felt disrespectful. But Annabeth's soul, on the other hand...

was good.

"I- I had a different best friend." Sen explained. "Before Percy, I mean. From wherever the hell I'm really from. He's a little younger- maybe around eleven? But, I've known him since... since I first had a memory, at least."
