Here's Annabeth's definition of not fun. Fly a pegasus toward an out-of-control helicopter. If Guido had been any less of a fancy flier, she and Percy would've been chopped to confetti.

Quite frankly, part of her kind of wanted to let the stupid helicopter crash. She was trying her hardest not to lose it, not to blurt out that Sen had died for the war. Knowing that Rachel was here was making that a lot harder. Annabeth had wanted Sen and Percy to get together for the longest time, but now, Sen was dead. Rachel's presence was just the biggest way to kick Annabeth when she was down.

Annabeth could hear Rachel screaming inside. For some reason, she hadn't fallen asleep, but Annabeth could see the pilot slumped over the controls, pitching back and forth as the helicopter wobbled toward the side of an office building.

"Ideas?" Percy asked Annabeth.

"You're going to have to take Guido and get out."

"What are you going to do?"

In response, she said, "Hyah!" and Guido went into a nosedive.

"Duck!" Annabeth yelled.

The demigods passed so close to the rotors, Annabeth felt the force of the blades ripping at her hair. They zipped along the side of the helicopter, and Annabeth grabbed the door.

Suddenly, Guido's wing slammed against the helicopter. He plummeted straight down with Percy on his back, leaving Annabeth dangling from the side of the aircraft. Annabeth screamed, watching as Percy and Guido spiraled down.

Suddenly, a hand shot out of the helicopter and yanked Annabeth up. She groaned as she rolled on the floor, her bad shoulder throbbing with pain. She shook it off and stood up, meeting Rachel's green eyes. She was completely terrified.

"What are you doing here?!" Rachel yelped as Annabeth pushed toward the controls. Out the window, she saw Guido starting to get his shit together.

Her mind flashed back. She was prized for her memory- one of her powers. For years, Annabeth used to feel disappointed in herself. She didn't have cool powers like her friends. She couldn't control water or naturally turn invisible. She didn't have perfect aim, and she couldn't grow any imaginable plant.

But, none of that mattered right now.

Her mind flashed back to her father. He was obsessed with flying. He loved it. He knew everything there was to know about flying. Annabeth's whole house was proof of that. Airplane and helicopter modules all over the place, diagrams of wings. Even her little brothers had toys made for flying. Her dad could take anything and twist it just right, and it'd fly a little bit.

She thought about that and the notes she'd read on Daedalus's laptop. Perfect images came to her mind, and it was like she was just reading a textbook on how to fly.

Annabeth clicked several buttons. She was dimly aware of Rachel still screaming. The helicopter was only a few seconds away from slamming into the side of the building.

In less than two seconds, Annabeth grabbed the control and yanked it up. The helicopter righted itself. It spun in a circle and hovered. Annabeth actually smiled, feeling proud of herself as she took the controls. Very slowly, it began to descend. It seemed to take forever, but finally the helicopter thudded to a landing in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
