Arizona sat next to Meredith's bed waiting for her to wake up, as she looked at her wife she sighed, her wife already looked tiny in the bed and she had a bad feeling about what was to come. Miranda stayed with the m which was another sign something was wrong. She didn't want to accept it but she knew I had to accept the possibility of bad news now so that she can support Meredith when she wakes up. As they sit there in silence, Arizona feels Meredith start to wake beside her, and she sighed. It's not that she didn't want Meredith to wake up, not at all she loved her wife more than life, but more that while she was still asleep, Miranda wouldn't have to tell them about the results of the biopsy and the surgery.
"Zona?" Meredith questioned, still half asleep
"Yes mer, I'm here, it's ok" Arizona cooed, knowing that, she was probably lying everyone was not ok but she didn't want Meredith to stress.
"Is it? Am I?" Meredith started to question once she woke up more, both Arizona and Miranda could here  the panic in her voice.
"Miranda is about to give us the results, my love, here sit up a bit" Arizona explained as she helped Meredith sit up a bit in her bed, putting cushions behind her so she didn't have to put to much stress on her body.
"Oh ok" Meredith relief knowing it most likely meant bad news.

"Ok Meredith, so on the initial scans we saw what appeared to be masses in your lungs, however we suspected there was more than one type of mass as they looked different in the scans, upon looking at them during the surgery we where unfortunately able to determine that our suspicions where correct. We have determined that there is pulmonary nodules in your lungs that we suspect is a result of the damage Covid caused to your lungs a few years ok. Unfortunately due to the damage on your lungs, it appears another growth has formed, we completely a biopsy on the masses...." Miranda paused as she explained the diagnosis to Meredith and Arizona. Arizona and Meredith both knew what that meant, both being surgeons themselves they knew how to deliver bad news.
"Please just continue Miranda, we both know it's bad but we need you to say it" Arizona pleaded holding Meredith's hand in hers.
"The results of the biopsy have come back, I can confirm that the growth is cancerous ... I'm so sorry Meredith, Arizona... I'll give you guys sometime alone. Again I am so sorry" Miranda continued, heartbroken for the girl, she might be a world renowned surgeon now but once she was her intern, her incredible, talented yet also incredibly stupid intern. She would never admit to to anyone but her interns where he babies, Meredith was the last one left, George had died, Izzie left after also battling cancer, Cristina left for Switzerland, then Alex left to follow Izzie, now it was only Meredith left, she needed this girl to live. Miranda left the two of them alone in their room,
"Arizona?" I'm scared" Meredith whimpered after a while of sitting in silence for a bit.
"It's ok Mer, we will be ok?" Arizona cooed, carefully repositioning herself so she was lying in the bed with her wife. Meredith didn't respond instead looking down at her hands, squeezing them into fists, her nails marking the skin with little crescents, Arizona noticed and took her wife's hands in hers. It had been a while since Meredith had done anything like that but Arizona knew her wife she knew her history, and she knew that information like this may have that affect on her.
"Meredith, hey look at me" Arizona exclaimed, Meredith looked up at Arizona, "it will be ok, we will get through this together." Meredith just nodded looking into Arizona's eyes. Arizona gave a small smile before leaning forward to place a kiss on her wife's lips.
"Thanks Zona" Meredith sighed looking her Arizona,

It wasn't much later when Miranda walked back into the room.
"Meredith are you ready to start taking about treatment options?" Miranda questioned,
