Arizona was in the attending's lounge having lunch with Amelia, when she got a 911 page to the pit from Miranda. Immediately she had a bad feeling and ran off to towards the Pit, as she arrived her feeling was confirmed when she saw both her babies sitting outside a trauma room with an intern,
"Mamma" Sophia yelled, running over to Arizona as soon as she her, Zola closely behind. Once both girls reached Arizona they hugged her starting to cry.
"Girls what happened are you ok?" Arizona asked, walking over towards the trauma room hesitantly, but neither girl responded.
"Girls did something happen with Mummy?" Arizona asked already knowing the answer but not wanting to believe it. As she looked at her girls hoping for an answer Chief Bailey walked out of the trauma room, Arizona immediately ran over to her.
"Bailey is she ok what's going on?" Arizona asked panicked.
"Arizona, breathe for a second, she's ok. I'm having her emitted and I will explain more once you've settled" Bailey explained looking sadly at Arizona. Once Meredith had been moved upstairs, Arizona and the girls get settled in her room, Meredith was asleep and had been since Arizona got there, as Bailey entered the room Arizona gently shook Meredith to wake her up, Arizona was concerned that they had Meredith wearing a face oxygen mask but didn't want to say anything in front of the girls.
Meredith started to wake up and looked at Bailey then Arizona, both mothers could tell something was wrong.
"Munchkins do you reckon you could go find Auntie Amelia and Titi Kai, mamma needs to tell them something" Arizona asked hoping to get the girls to leave the room.
"By what about mummy?" Sofia asked looking concerned at her mums.
"Mummy will be fine, mamma and me are looking after her" Bailey explained, both girls looked at each other then got up to leave the room. After the girls had left the room Bailey looked back at Meredith and Arizona.
"Please can someone tell me what happened?" Arizona asked looking between Meredith and Bailey.
"Meredith was brought into the hospital due to having trouble breathing I paged you as soon as I saw it was her in the ambulance. I believe she was at home with the girls when it start and one of your girls called 911" Bailey started to explain knowing Meredith would be to tired to, Meredith nodded signalling that Bailey assumption was true. "Due to her current medical condition obviously I was concerned so I got a x-ray and a MRI to see what could be causing the troubles with breathing, the results where..." Bailey paused not wanting to say what they found.
"Please Bailey just tell us" Arizona pleaded holding her wife's hand.
"We found that the lesion appear to have grown meaning that the treatment isn't working. I'm sorry" Bailey finished looking at sadly at the couple,
"Oh," Arizona sighed looking at Meredith. Meredith just looked back at her.
"If you want we can try other more intense chemos and I would suggest probably starting you on IL-2 treatment as well" Bailey explained looking down at Meredith's chart avoiding eye-contact with the couple. As soon as Meredith heard IL-2 her heart started to race, that had been what Izzie had, had she remembered how sick it made her, Izzie was so weak.
"Meredith honey look at me" she heard Arizona cood she looked over to her. "What do you want to do...remember I will support you no matter what." Arizona continued, gently rubbing Meredith's hand.
"I don't know Zona, honestly, I remember Izzie getting IL-2 it made her so sick I don't want that for the kids. But at the same time if it works, I don't want to give up on the kids. But Sofia and Zola are already so scared..." Meredith started to ramble her eyes filling with tears.
"Honey breath for a second ok don't freak out we can figure this out ok?" Arizona cooed hoping to calm Meredith down. Meredith took a deep breathe before looking at Arizona.
"Zona I don't want our kids to loose another parent..." Meredith sighed,
"So you are going to try?" Arizona asked hope-full, Meredith just nodded, reaching out for Arizona.
Arizona quickly moved herself so she was sitting on the edge of Meredith bed which allowed Meredith to hug her.
"Ok, so if we want to start the treatment it's best we start soon" Miranda explained, the couple had forgotten she was sitting there, but she had heard their decision.
"How soon?" Meredith asked
"Tomorrow would be best..." Miranda explained, "that way you have time to explain to the girls and Bailey" Miranda continued conscious of how much this would affect the kids.
Meredith didn't say anything she just looked at Arizona.
"That sounds great Mandy, thank you." Arizona replied,
"Ok I'll give you guys some time. Meredith try and get some rest, your going to need it" Miranda explained, smiling sympathetically at the couple before leaving the room.
"She's right Meri, get some sleep I'll be right here" Arizona coed moving herself and Meredith so that Meredith could sleep.
"Thanks zona" Meredith replied already half asleep.
Gently Arizona started to rub Meredith's back. It didn't take long for Meredith to fall asleep when Arizona's phone went off.
The girls made it to me and Kai, should we come up to Meredith's room now?
It was a text from Amelia, as Arizona looked at meredith she replied
Can you keep them busy for a bit, Meredith is sleeping, I'll explain more later
Arizona knew Amelia would be worried, but she also know that she would respect Arizona's wish.
Sure, hope she's ok.
Amelia replied allowing Arizona to relax a bit.
It will be.
Arizona replied, before putting her phone away and turning back to Meredith. She signed as she saw Meredith laying in the hospital bed she felt so small, and somehow this scene had become a familiar one, not a welcome one but one she was sadly getting used to.

I hope you enjoyed, I've been trying to find a gender neutral term for Aunt and Uncle for Kai, I found Titi online it comes from the Spanish terms Tia (aunt) and Tio (uncle), if you have any other suggestions or a more appropriate term please let me know.
