Grayson's POV
I awkwardly walk as Nini refuses to let go of my hand, my dad better have that ice cream and desperate housewives dvd on the table or I'm gonna lose it
I look over to see E.J glaring at me but I brush it off, he has many reasons to glare at me and I don't feeling like trying to figure out which reason it is
"Ok....lest have some real talk....welcome to tech rehearsal....I don't know if you've noticed but the tech in this particular theater appears to be hand cranked...Natalie Baggley...my dear...my stage manager...this is your chance to be the hero" Miss Jen says as we all look around for Natalie
I ask Red or Ashlyn then I ask Carlos who shrugs as well
"What..what what is it, what's happening" Miss Jen asks as she freaks out
"Natalie Baggly is getting her wisdom teeth out" Sen says causing Miss Jenn to look down at the floor freaking out inside
"Ok...so I'm down a stage manger, my Taylor MIA" Miss Jen says
"She's ok...she's a fighter and she be back for opening night" Ricky says and I nod in agreement
"Yea..,uh...working things out so she'll be back and I'll be here too" I say and Miss Jen nods
"Did she text you" NiNi asks Ricky
"No....Grayson...she tell you anything"Ricky ask and I shake my head
"She's having a Uh...Daddy Daughter day right now...I don't wanna explain right now" I say with a sigh and both Nini and Ricky rub my arm in comfort
Suddenly a sandbag falls onstage causing all of us to scream and Miss Jenn barely moves as we all look up in horror
"Totally normal...just...heads up from now on...alrighty..Big Red...do you know how to hang a light" Miss Jenn asks Red
"I know how to..hang...out" Red says causing us to laugh, I shake my head as I laugh into my shirt
"Cool....Carlos....let's see makes time like the status quo....Troy and Gabriella...find somewhere quiet to run the rooftop scene....it's been a while and I need you opening night ready by dinner time..k" Miss Jen directs and I nod before walking NiNi and i to a separate room in the abandoned theater
"So...you never talk about your dad...or anything with me...why don't you" NiNi asks and I sigh
"I just....I don't know actually" I say as we wonder the halls of the theater till we get to one with a piano and some dusty boxes
"But you know you can...right" She says as I go and sit down at the piano and test the keys out
"I....I'm getting there...why are you asking me these questions" I ask as I turn to her and she walks over to me
"Because you got so...scared when I asked about what intersex meant...I mean if it's something about you that your ashamed of then don't be...I accept you for you" Nini reassures and I sigh
"I'll...I'll tell you later" I say and she nods before scooting impossibly close to me as I start playing the piano
"Are you upset about me possibly leaving" NiNi asks causing me to miss a key and stop, I sigh and stare at the piano more intensely
"Yes...feels like everyone is leaving me...my mom...I mean my dad left and came back....Gina is contemplating leaving with my mom again but...I know she won't" I say causing Nini to sigh
"Grayson.....I know we haven't talked much about your dad but-
"I don't wanna get into that..not today...not right now" I say before looking to NiNi who nods and grabs my hand
"I'm not leaving you permanently...I haven't even decided if I'm going or not, if I do then I'll still be with you...and if I don't...I still didn't leave...I'm sorry I talked about this when you are going through a rough time at home...I shouldn't have done that" Nini says and I smile a bit at her
I grab her hand and kiss her knuckles before looking into her eyes
"Thank you....didn't know I needed that reassurance but...I'm glad you gave it to me....I've had to leave people i care about so so many times and I've been left by a man I loved dearly...who was supposed to love me....I just got scared...I am scared that....I'll..I'll be left again" I say and Nini smiles and kisses my cheek
"You won't be....not by me" She says and I smile and look down at her lips then back to her eyes
"Uh...we should uh...get back to the song" I say and Nini smiles and chuckles slightly
"Yea Uh let's get started' She says and I go to start playing the piano again but NiNi's run into mine causing us to laugh a little
I look into NiNi's eyes and I see her eyes go to my lips them my eyes, I feel myself leaning in and she does the same but my hand that's holding me up slips and I fall into Nini causing us to fall of the piano bench
"Ugh....wow how smooth of me" I say as groan and get up before yelling Nini up
"You ok" I say and Nini giggle a bit
"Yea just uh...got dust in my ass....you ok..nothing bruised" She asks and I look at her awkwardly
"Just my ego, we're fine....page 52" I say and Nini laugh and nods while caressing my cheek that is definitely red from embarrassment
