she presses start stream and we do a small QandA so chat can get to know me better

"what's your name?" niki reads aloud.

"sage."

"what are your pronouns?"

i think for a minute. what ARE my pronouns?

"they/them"

"how do you two meet?"

"we went to the same middle school."

we do a bit of stardew valley, i played on a separate monitor and we start a farm.

"awwww a dog! i shall dub thee..." i think for a sec. "pinche puta!"

"what does that mean? it's spanish right?" niki asks.

"yes! it means," not wanting to tell her it means bitch. "It means well-behaved."

"awww hello pinche puta. i'll put her name in!"

Chat is filled with 'omg!'s and 'niki NOO!'

"why is chat saying no?" niki asks.

"ummm, let's not name her that. how about milo?"

"sure!" niki types the name and milo lives in our little house.

after an hour we decided to end stream.

"bye chat! i'll be back next stream!" i smile.

we chill on the bed and she puts on spirited away.

"so sage." niki starts. "i noticed you were kind of uncomfortable with the question about your pronouns. do you not know?"

"no i do. i'm he/they but i felt they wouldn't accept me, so i said they. it's half the truth so i didn't care."

she hugs me. "you shouldn't be uncomfortable about people accepting you. sure, they should, but don't let your life revolve around what other people think of you."

niki falls asleep an hour into the movie and i get a text ding on my phone.
