"Hello dear." The man standing in the middle of my Uncle's living room said to me.

"Don't you 'hello dear' me Dumbledore! You knew how to contact me! You knew where I was! So how could you not tell me?!" I screeched. "How could you not tell me that the war was over? How could you not tell me that two of my best friends died?!"

"Dear Mariah. I did not tell you because I believed that you would have a better life in America with your little girl. If I told you, then you would've came back, and-" He cut himself off.

"And you didn't want me taking in their son? That boy needed someone to love and care about him, and we all know Petunia wouldn't give him that! She hated Lily and everything to do with magic!" I continued.

"That is not what I came here to discuss Mariah Lee Bane." He said sternly.

"Then what do you want?" I placed my hand on my hip to emphasize the attitude, letting him know that I was cross.

"I came here to offer you the position as our new Astronomy professor." He said. "Will you take it?"

"I'll have to think about it." I sighed.

"Mummy, who's this?" Anastasia asked from the bottom of the stairs.

"Ana, this is Professor Dumbledore. He is the Headmaster of Hogwarts." I introduced her.

"Ooh is he here to talk about my first year?" She asked excitedly.

"Uh, no. He's here to ask me if I want to be the new Astronomy professor." I told her. "What do you think? Could you stand seeing me all of the time for seven more years?"

"Oh my goodness, that would be awesome!" He cheered then left a dramatic pause before answering, "But then I wouldn't be able to get away with anything."

"You wouldn't be able to get away with anything anyways." I said in a playful stern voice. "What exactly are you trying to get away with?"

"Nothing! It was a joke." She laughed.

"So will you take the position?" Dumbledore urged. I looked at Ana and she nodded excitedly.

"Sure, why not?" I gave in.

"But why astronomy?" Ana asked me.

"Potions and Astronomy were her best subjects, and she was the best student I've seen In all of my years at this school in Astronomy, and the Potions position has already been refilled." Dumbledore explained.

                "Slughorn left?" I asked sadly.

"Not long after you did, but his position was filled by someone just as talented in potion making as you." He said. "It was filled by someone you know."

"Who?" Both Ana and I asked.

"Severus Snape." He said. My eyes lit up, but Ana's showed even more confusion.

                "Who's that?" She asked.

"He's a friend of mine and Lily's." I told her. My voice was mixed with happiness and sadness. Happiness because Severus was my friend, but sadness because he was Lily's and she was gone.

"Anyways it was nice to see you Again Mariah Bane, and it was nice to meet you Anastasia Bane. I look forward to seeing you both in September, but I must be going so I can speak with the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor." Dumbledore said, and headed to the fireplace.

                "Goodbye Professor." I waved.

"Goodbye." Professor Dumbledore said before shouting his destination and disappearing into the green flames.
