Telling Anastasia

"Ana?" I called out to my daughter.

"Yes mum?" She came running into the room.

"Do you remember the promise I made when you were five?" I asked.

"You said you would take me to where you grew up for my tenth birthday." She said.

"Well before we go, there are some things I need to talk to you about." I told her. Her birthday was coming up in a few months, and I needed to tell her about magic so she didn't freak out when we get there.

"Okay?" She asked hesitantly.

"Sit." I told her. She took a seat next to me and looked kind of scared. " Our family... Okay so do you remember a time when you were very angry and strange things started to happen?"

"Yes?" She asked, not knowing where I was going with this.

"Our family is different than some of your friends." I told her. "My mum and dad met at a special school. The same school your dad and I went to along with your Uncle James, Aunt Lily, Uncle Sirius, and your Aunt Chrystal. Most of my friends went to the school."

"What about Aunt Cher and Uncle Shaun?" She asked.

"I didn't meet Aunt Cher or Uncle Shaun until we moved here." I told her. "So the school I went to was for special people like mummy and daddy. People who can use magic."

"Magic?" She asked.

"Yes. I'm a witch, and So are you. So was your dad and our parents. When we go to my home, there will be things there that you've never seen before. Uncle Damocles has many weird things in his house like house elves." I explained.

"House elves?" She asked.

"They are creatures that work for witches and wizards. They cannot be freed unless their master or mistress gives them clothes, and even then that is something they frown upon. Uncle Damocles is very kind towards his servants though." I told her.

"So what else should I know?" She asked. I eplained everything about the wizarding world to my daughter and she took everything very well. "You can decide where you want to go to school Ana. You can go to school here in America or you can go where all of our family went, to Hogwarts."

"Can I choose after we go? I want to see what it's like there and then I will see." She looked determined.

"Okay. If you want you can talk to Aunt Cher about the school here." I smiled.

"Aunt Cher is a witch?" She asked.

"Yes. She is." I smiled.

"How come you didn't tell me about all of this any sooner?" She asked.

"Because when I was little, a war began. It wasn't bad then, but a very bad guy came to my home and he killed my mum and dad. When I got older, he started a war. When you were in my tummy, the war was in full swing. It wasn't safe there for us, so I came here. Your Aunt Lily was supposed to tell me when the war ended, and when it was I would bring you home." I explained.

"Then why aren't we there?" She asked.

"Because she never told me anything." I told her.
