Changing the Subject and the Truth

Everyone was staring at me waiting for an answer. Alynna was staring daggers right through me. How could i possibly tell everyone in the pub that my best mates girlfriend was cheating on him with someone who was engaged. Before i said anything Narcissa Black and Lucius Malfoy walked in.

"Cissy!" I shouted running up and hugging her in hopes that it would change the subject. "Goodness i haven't seen you in forever!" I cried.

"What's going on? Since when were you friends with my cousin?" Sirius asked obviously confused.

"Remember that party during first year?" I asked. Sirius had to think about it for a minute, but the a look of realization danced across his face. "That night."

"What happened that night?" Ashton, Eliza, and Lucius asked in unison. My eyes turned bright yellow as the memory i was so fond of flooded back into my mind.

"My mother was throwing her annual Christmas eve party where only the most prestigious families are invited. Marlee's godfather Sir Damocles and obviously his family were invited." Narcissa started telling the story.

"Explains why she's in the Slug Club." I heard Eclair Thomas mutter from a few tables away.

"When they arrived Marlee and Chrys were both wearing knee length pure white dresses, and the whole time i was thinking 'that girl goes to my school.' I could've sworn she was half veela that night. Fifteen minutes minutes later James came over to me followed by Marlee. She was so shy back then... James started to introduce us but Marlee whispered something in his ear. The next thing i know she has her hand extended towards me. She said 'Sirius right?' I was speechless. She then said 'I'm Mariah Bane.' Right then ny idiot brother pushed me causing me to spill red punch all over her." Sirius picked up where Narcissa left off.

"Auntie was pissed while Regulus was sniggering. Before mum could say anything i had taken Marlee's hand and pulled her into my room. I let her try on different dresses until we finally found one that made her look even more stunning than she had before." Narcissa said.

"About thirty minutes later we finally came back out. I was in a red dress and Cissy had done my hair in an extremely fancy braid. When we came out we were the best of friends." I finished.

"And that was the night Marlee fell madly in love with me." Sirius said cockily.

It sounds more like you fell in love with her!" Lily yelled from halfway across the room.

"Maybe a bit... but everyone knows it's not me she fancies." Sirius joked.

"One more word and i tear your head off in your sleep." I growled.

"Hey you changed the the subject!" Ashton yelled and if looks could kill... well lets just say he would already be six feet under.

"Yea! Tell us who she is!" James yelled. Narcissa gave me a confused look and i explained how i knew who Andrew Flint shagged because i accidentally walked in on them.

"So tell us." She urged.

"Ugh! She... she should tell you herself!" I yelled and everyone gasped.

"Is she in this room?" Peter asked from beside James. Silence over came me and a look of realization and horror creepers onto Remus' face.

"No tell me its not true!" Remus desperately cried. Alynna was the only Male prefects girlfriend in the three broomsticks."Aly... it isn't true is it?" Alynna stayed silent.

"Her? IT WAS HER!?" James yelled furiously. I nodded. Silence filled the room as everyone stared.

"Why didn't you tell me? Remus asked me. Every inch of his body shaking. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?! MARIAH ANSWER ME!" He shouted. Tears filled my eyes. This scared me more than anything. I had never seen Remus like this. Ever.

"Would you have believed me if i had told you? You would think i was mental. Precious Alynna would never do any wrong." I defended. Tears were now streaming down my face. I rand out of the pub running to the shrieking shack and turning into my golden wolf. Ashton ran after me along with Prongs and Padfoot but as soon as they got near the wolf me i growled and Padfoot pulled Ashton out of the room leaving James alone with me.
