Their friendship started when Stacey just moved to Dublin from Wicklow. Her house is next to Ashton’s. They attended the same elementary school then primary but they became distant when they were in secondary school because Stacey got a new friend and Ashton got jealous of it, refused to meet or talk to her. Stacey was always busy with her new friend whenever he wanted to spend time with her. But Stacey never realized that she was the one who made him felt that way. Instead, she’s angry of him because she thought that he never wanted to be her friend anymore.
They always competing to get the first rank in class since they were in elementary school and even now but the competition became even heated when they became more distant.
Everybody who knows them also knew that once they were best friends who never be apart from each other but nobody knows the reason why they are not best friends anymore.
It has been 4 years now since they refused to meet nor talk to each other. Stacey’s now best friend is Annie whom Ashton thought was the one who caused his friendship with Stacey destroyed. Ashton, on the other hand, befriend with one of the popular groups in the school.
Their group is popular because they are kind and smart, not like most of the groups at their school. Most of the members are handsome especially Stacey’s ex-best friend but he's more cute than handsome. He is blond haired, blue eyed, average height boy with two dimples on both of his cheeks. Damn! So cute!
“Ms. Johnson and Mr. Evan, meet me at my office after school.”, Mr. Madison the Math teacher says.
“What have you done?”, Annie widens her eyes, purposely wants to make Stacey scares.
“I don’t know. Did I do something wrong?”, Stacey responds. Annie shrugs for ‘I don’t know’.
She’s confused. What has she done? She never stepped her feet inside the discipline room before. But, why should her? She never did anything wrong! Stacey can’t focus on the whole learning session in class. All she thinks about is ‘what will happen after school?’.
After the bell rang, she goes to Mr. Madison’s office immediately. Her heart beats faster and faster when nearing the office. She knocks the door and enters the office after hearing Mr. Madison told her to come in.
“Oh, Ms. Johnson. Please have a seat.”
“Thank you.”, Stacey says politely and takes her seat.
“What is it Mr. Madison?”, she asks nervously.
“I’ll tell you later. What took Mr. Evan so late?”, he looks at his watch on his left wrist.
Wait. What?! Mr. Evan? So, Ashton will be here too? She forgets that her ex-best friend was called by Mr. Madison too. A minute later, the door is knocked. That must be Ashton, she thinks. Stacey tries to look calm as best as she can.
“Mr. Evan, please sit.”, Mr. Madison greets him as pointing at the seat next to Stacey.
“Thanks.”, she can hear his voice from behind. Then, he sits next to her.
“What’s the matter that you want to meet us, Mr. Madison?”, asks Ashton.
“Last exam, both of you got the highest mark for my subject. Congrats!”, Mr. Madison tells them happily.
“Really?!”, both of them say. Stacey covers her smiling lips with her hands. Ashton is also smiling widely. Finally, he got the highest mark. He never beat Stacey for Math before.
Mr. Madison nods before continue, “Because of that, both of you got an award. I’m so proud of you. I know you can get awards for the other subjects since you two are among the best students in our school.”
“Thank you, Mr. Madison.”, Ashton and Stacey say.
