Now Stacey holds the highest marks for Biology, Chemistry, History and the newest, Math. But she only got the second highest for Physics that makes her a bit frustrated. She was defeated by Ashton for that subject.
The Excellence Awards ceremony will also be held soon. She already had many awards from that ceremony before. Each year, her name is always being called to get the awards, same goes to Ashton. But she'll never let him defeat her. NEVER.
Stacey gets out from Mr. Madison's room with a big smile. She almost jump by surprise when hears someone coughing, it's Ashton. He's leaning against the wall while his hands are crossing over his chest. What is he doing there? Is he waiting for her?
"Congrats.", he says.
"Thanks.", she answers with smile.
"Oh, congrats to you too.", she continues, feeling kind of awkward because they never talk in years.
"Thank you.", he replies politely and gives her his warm smile. They become silent all of a sudden. As the saying goes, this silence is too loud. Both of them stand still right where they are, lost for words.
"Okay.", Stacey wants to escape from the awkwardness. Before she could take a step, he quickly blocks her way.
"How are you?", he's standing in front of her.
"So far so good."
"Did you ever miss me?", he asks. Did she miss him? Yes. She still considers him as her best friend anyway. Did she? She wants to say 'yes' but she can't, it's like something is blocking her throat.
"I guess no. But I always missing you for the past 4 years.", he says making her heart move. All this time she thought that he was already forgetting her. Her eyes behind the glasses are already filled with tears.
"Hey, are you okay?", Ashton begins to panic. Stacey nods at his question, sobbing.
"Hey..", he shakes her shoulder.
"I'm okay and I missed you too.", he stops shaking her after hearing her words. He looks into her eyes before he hugs her tightly.
"We're still best friend?", Ashton asks, still with Stacey in his arm.
"Yes. Forever and always.", Stacey says in chuckles as they let go of each other. Funny that she's quoting one of Taylor Swift's song title.
"Oh! I have to go. I'll miss the bus.", Stacey starts to walk faster after realizing that she's already late.
Before he opens his mouth to say something, she already disappears. Wow! She's so fast.
