Chapter 12

The day has finally come. Stacey dressed beautifully in red gown. Mom, Alice and Colton are waiting for her downstairs.

“Wow!”, that’s the only word come out from their mouth.

“Who’s gonna pick you up? Ashton?”, says Alice. Stacey doesn’t respond at it but smiles.

“Mom, who’s that?”, Colton is hiding behind his mom, peeking at Stacey. All of them laugh. Colton is still at his mom’s back with bewildered look on his face.

“I am your Stacey. You didn’t know me?”, Stacey squats to be at the same eyes level to speak with Colton.

“Is that you?”, Colton says, touches her cheeks like he used to do. Stacey nods and kisses her little brother.

“You look different. You look beautiful.”, says Colton. Stacey giggles at him.

“Of course because I’m your girl, yes?”, Colton nods at it.

The doorbell rings. It must be Shawn. Stacey stands from squatting to open the door but mom offers herself to open it. As expected, it’s Shawn. The sounds of mom and Shawn’s voice can be heard.

“Stacey!”, mom calls.

“Coming!”

“He’s nice..”, mom whispers at Stacey making her to giggle.

“Hi..”, Stacey greets Shawn who’s standing outside. When he turns around, he becomes speechless. She such a goddess. She's cute when wearing glasses but more beautiful without it, like now.

“H…ello”, he replies nervously.

“Shall we?”, he says politely. Stacey nods. Then he takes her hand and places it on his arm and they're heading to his car.

“Take care of my girl!”, Colton says loudly, warning at Shawn. He's at the door watching them making their way to the car.

“Okay!”, Shawn responds. They both giggles at it.

There’s a silence all the way to the venue. Then, Stacey begins to start a conversation.

“Where are going after this? I mean, are you gonna get in the college or.. work or.. what?”

“Well, I think I want to go to college.”, Shawn responds.

“Oh, that’s great.”, Stacey says as she nods.

“Yeah..”

Then they become silence again. This is awkward.
