ArtemisI can't believe I am studying in the library on a Friday.
With Adrian.
I rub my eyes tiredly as he watches me, looking skeptical at my teaching abilities.
It is 7.30pm, and instead of finally reading the book that Athena has been trying to get me to read for months, I am stuck with babysitting.
The library is relatively empty because noone in the right mind would come here on a Friday, at 7.30pm in the evening.
Adrian sits across from me, looking expectant and at the same time skeptical.
I yawn and throw up my notes at him, "Here."
"Pardon?"
I sigh dramatically, "I think you would learn more at looking at my notes than getting me to explain."
He raises an eyebrow, "How do I know you don't want to teach me just so you can continue to beat me in English?"
"Good point," I say, grinning, "You'll just have to guess."
He smiles, and flips through my notes although I am sure he is anything but pleased.
"Wait- you write? Like you write books?" His words make me freeze instantly.
"W-what?" I say, leaning forward and I want to drown myself immediately. I am so stupid to throw notes... scribbled in my story ideas.
I snatch at it but he is faster and holds it up, grinning, "Wait, I haven't read them yet-"
"You fucking bitch-" I swear, lunging for it but he begins to read my notes aloud, standing up so it is out of my reach.
"When 18 year old Cara Denver meets her childhood best friend," He crows, looking delighted, "Ooh, never knew you liked romance, menteur rusé?"
"You can speak french?" I snap.
"Ooh, she kills him at the end?" He widens his eyes, "I am concerned for you if you think this is romance."
"I never said that."
"Mm, sure." Adrian smiles, and tosses himself back into his chair.
I go to google immediately to find out what he just called me, What is Menture Rusé in english...
A cunning liar.
"You're googling it?" He looks amused, leaning forward.
I look up, and say impulsively, "Even my lanjiao is bigger than yours."
He tilts his head, nodding as if impressed, "Oh? How would you know?"
"It's a really obvious assumption."
He laughs, and nods his head slowly, "Hmm, I am insulted but I think you and I would rather not prove you wrong."
"You would be absolutely correct." I say.
"My friends will be delighted to hear your stories." He says suddenly after a mere minute of silence. It sounds like a blackmail threat. Unfortunately for him, I know something about everyone. I know that Jess Morgan made out with her brother's best friend in Nora's dorm. I know that Miranda Woods, Year 10 had a crush on Giselle for 11 weeks. I also happen to know that Martin Baker and Jessica Liu lost their virginity in a cupcake bakery, 10 minutes away from Mcdonald's.
I let out a laugh, "My friends will be delighted to hear you singing."
He looks up abruptly, "What?" Adrian seems rather confused at what I am implying.
