Chapter 8: I am very pretty

Just as Lalisa's hand touched the door handle, she heard Jungkook say in a dangerous tone, "Come back."

Almost as if her body was being controlled, Lalisa immediately shot back into the bedroom and obediently sat down on the bed.

'He is so scary!' Lalisa complained in her head, wondering how she even managed to get herself involved with such a big shot.

Jungkook wasn't pleased by Lalisa's expression. Was he really that scary?

"I saved you," Jungkook repeated.

Lisa nodded her head, signaling that she understood.

"What are you going to do in return?"

"What?" Lalisa blurted out, not expecting the almighty king, Jungkook, to ask something in return from her.

Jungkook raised one eyebrow, making him appear even scarier, but at the same time also more attractive.

"Well. . . you have more money than you will ever need and there is nothing that I can give you that you won't be able to get by yourself. So, what do you want?"Lalisa  quickly glanced up into Jungkook's face and frowned. Why did he look so familiar? Where did she see him before?

"I want you."

". . ." Well, that was direct.

Lalisa opened her mouth to speak but couldn't form the right words.

"Let's make a deal. You become my girlfriend and you can ask for anything in return."

"Anything?" Lalisa repeated.

Jungkook nodded his head, "Anything."

Lalisa thought about what could help her but realized that there wasn't much she needed right now. However, she would definitely need support in the future.

There were many things she couldn't do by herself, but Jungkook would definitely be able to do.

"How long would this deal last?"

Jungkook leaned back against the couch casually, "However long I feel like."

"And. . . that is about how long?"

"Forever."

Lalisa was left speechless. Talking with this person was really difficult, but what could she do. He was the king, and she was only a mere peasant.

Lalisa bit her lips and fell silent. She couldn't decide whether this was a good deal or not. Jungkook. . .

The most powerful person in all of Country Z. With his help and support, her career and revenge would all be much easier.

And wasn't that what she wanted?

Love wasn't important to her anymore, so her part of the deal didn't matter much. It seemed like in this deal, she would be the one benefitting.

"I have my part of the deal," Lalisa said, looking into Jungkook's eyes. "You have to help me."

Jungkook licked his lips with amusement, "With what?"

"Everything. My career, my life, whatever I need help with. But don't worry, everything I need help with would be easy for you."

Jungkook didn't respond, as that wasn't what he was expecting.

Lalisa cleared her throat and continued, "Think about it. I am giving away my wonderful years of being young and beautiful for this deal. So, what I'm asking for isn't too much, right?"

Jungkook nodded his head. It was too little.

"But why me?" Lalisa was very curious about this. Did this man fall in love with her at first sight or something?

Jungkook looked away and responded after a few seconds, "Well. . . there has been recent news about me being gay since I haven't been in a relationship ever. This has a huge impact on my work and overall image, so I need to clear it up. Dating someone would be the easiest way to do so."

For the first time, Jungkook felt kind of guilty for lying. In the past, he would be able to lie without even blinking an eye, but now, he couldn't even look Lalisa in the eye.

It would be weird for him to say, 'I fell in love with you at first sight, so I want you.'

That would only make him seem like a pervert, and he couldn't have the love of his life think of him like that.

For the first time in all 26 years of his life, he wanted someone. He wanted something so bad, and he loved something so much.

It was a weird feeling, maybe because he had never felt it before. The woman in front of him was so perfect in his eyes, and he wanted to protect her and love her.

However, he couldn't tell her that just yet. It would scare her, and maybe push her away from him.

"Um. . . okay." Would that mean she was just very lucky to accidentally run across this man and accidentally get chosen to be his fake girlfriend?

Lalisa nodded her head, "You made the right decision to choose me."

"How so?"

Lalisa flipped her hair confidently, "To start with, I am very pretty. Furthermore, I am truly very pretty. Finally, I am truly extremely pretty!"

In all the years of his life, he has met shameless people but has never met such a shameless person.

But he liked it!

After she finished, Lalisa burst out laughing, "Don't be so serious, I'm only joking. I have to admit that I am very pretty, but that's not the point. After all, I'm a good choice since I'm not asking much from you. I'm not asking for money, not asking for love, and I'm only asking for the title of Jeon Jungkook's partner and asking for your help."

Jungkook smiled, "The title of Jeon Jungkook's partner itself is worth quite a lot. What if you use it to bribe and cheat off people."

Lalisa played around with a strand of her hair and replied with a smile, "Being alive is quite nice, so why would I purposely dig my own grave?"

Especially for her, since she had already died once. She was more grateful for her life this time around.

"Oh! And also if I get in trouble, you have to save me." Lalisa remembered. After what happened yesterday, she learned that there was no way she could overcome all the schemes coming her way by herself.

If she accidentally fell into one of Eunha's traps, she needed someone to save her. Who else better than the most powerful person in all of the country?
