The little lurmen was surprised how only two of them with fairly decent equipment could take down an entire pirate group of more than twenty members. But the most shocking thing was that everything went completely as Icarus had predicted. Well. Most of it.
From the fact that two pirates went to investigate the sound, the pirates' confusion, the lightning attack that didn't give them time to react, the rest being sealed in the shelter, using the corpse from a pirate as a shield, to the fact that the pirate chief would desperately kill his own men trying to save his own life. Icarus even gave him precise orders to when shoot and where to move. He even predicted that one of them would leave the roof to activate the alarm. The only mistake in his plan was that inside the refuge there were two more pirates than he calculated.
Only once the adrenaline left his body, Wag Too was able to think coldly about what had happened.
"What the hell. How did he do that? How could he predict Trandoshan's every move? How did he even know where to move and what target to move to?"shoot before even starting the fight? How did he know the confusion and fear would last long enough to allow us to finish them off without even giving them a chance to react? And the most important. Who or what is really Icarus? And what will be the limit of his capabilities?" Wag Too thought to himself.
Although Icarus had shared much of his personal information, as well as the fact that he was an improved experimental model, Wag Too still found it hard to believe the droid's capabilities. Even when he mentioned that the "meat shield" would cause unreasonable terror in pirates, he never thought it would be that effective. Although the truth was that even for himself it was a bit bizarre. When Icarus told him: "(...) they programmed me to manipulate the emotions of my enemies (...)" he never thought it was so extreme. Still, the lurmen's appreciation of the droid was enough to assuage the fear that just remembering the battle created in him.
Wag Too: - Did you find anything useful? - He said sticking his head out of one of the cooling ducts of the Kestrel Nova that was parked outside the lair.
Ícaro: - Nothing really important. Weapons, money, ammo, spices, fuel cells, batteries, lights, among other things. - He said approaching the ship.
Wag Too: - Is this a joke? That's some real loot. - He said in amazement.
Icarus: - It may be true But right now what we need most is information. And I didn't find anything like that. -
Wag Too: - Don't be pessimistic. Everything you mentioned could well be worth a fortune in these parts. -
Icarus: - Well. Maybe you are right. Any progress on that thing? -
Wag Too: - Hey. Don't call he a thing. He also has feelings. - Referring to the ship.
Ícaro: - What you propose is... improbable. -
Wag Too: - You know what? Forget it. - The lurmen sighed. - I already checked most of it. Apparently the engines are working and the hyperjump will allow us to jump two or three times. The controls respond appropriately and will maintains in one piece despite being such an old model. The only problem is that it has no shields. -
Ícaro: - ¿Cause? -
Wag Too: - The shield system is broken. Being such an old model, they probably couldn't find a functional shield module. The weapon system seems functional as it should, but I can't say anything about the assisted aiming system. As far as I'm concerned, everything else works as it should. - The lurmen jumped out of the ventilation shaft and landed a few meters from the droid.
Icarus: - Very good. We'll load everything that will fit on the ship. What is not useful to us we will sell for contraband or scrap. Credits are always useful, and besides, we have a problem. -
