Prince Chris explained his plan to us. I was to create a distraction around midnight out front so all of the guards on duty were to go investigate and then sneak around to the back where the princes will be waiting for me. I've been instructed not to wear my armor, for the sake of stealth.

It's 4:45 pm and I'm currently in my room, gathering what supplies I think will be necessary and putting them into my satchel.

"Yah! You." I turn quickly towards the voice and see Prince Seungmin standing at my door. He walks towards me, and I step backward, trying to keep the distance between us. My back hits the wall, and the prince is still walking forward. "Let me get one thing straight." His hand slams against the wall next to me, successfully trapping me against the wall and him.

"Chan. He might trust you, but I don't!" His voice is low and threatening, and his face is dangerously close to my own. His brown hair with blonde fringe hangs over his eyes lightly. Despite the nervousness, I keep a straight face. "I've got my eye on you, 'Royal Guard'."

'Is he doubting my position-? Why..?'

"And I've got my eye on you as well, 7th born, Prince Seungmin. As it is my job to pr-"

"'Protect the royals', yeah I'm very aware." He gets slightly closer to me. "Just watch yourself." With that, he pushes off of the wall and leaves, shutting the door behind him.

I release a breath I hadn't known I was holding. 'For him being younger than me, he's intimidating..'

I don't have much time to collect my thoughts before a knock sounds at my door. Cautiously I open it. I see who's behind the door and open it fully, then bow. "Prince Yongbok. What can I do for you, your highness."

"A-ah- uhm nothing... I just wanted to talk I guess.." He says nervously while messing with his blonde hair. I lift my head. "Talk? Does this have anything to deal with the plan?" I question. He nods.

I step aside and allow him to come into the room, shutting the door behind him. "So, your majesty, may I ask what's troubling you?"

"I-I was just wondering what you're going to do to get the guards distracted, that's all." He stammers. Something tells me that's not what he wants to ask, but I don't question it.

"I have a friend going to play as a decoy. I'm going to run to a guard saying that there's some large disturbance and order him to collect the guards and check it out. If everything goes according to plan, my friend makes a little disturbance, gets off scot-free, and we sneak out through the back entrance. Where two guards- who are in on this- will be guarding. So there is no need to worry about anything your highness." I explain.

He says nothing, just merely nods his head, his eyes downcast.

"Is there something else on your mind, your highness?" I ask. He nods once more. "Many things, but I wouldn't want to trouble you with them. Although I do have one thing to ask." He says.

"And what might that be your highness?" I ask. He speaks again. "The forest... do you know your way in it?"

The Elder Woods forest is a vast land of nothing but ancient trees. It covers many mysteries of this world. Not many people have made it through it safely, for there are many untold dangers that are hidden within the thicket of the thousand-year-old trees.

Many say it's enchanted, and haunted. Luckily, my family has been one of the few to make it through the forest, although I was only around 12, I remember everything.

The way the trees allow no light in, makes the place feel like twilight 24/7. The creepy howl of what we thought was just wind at the time, and the worst part, the spiders. They sense heat, they attack anything with a heat signature. The one thing we have against these things is that they're deaf. Without the proper covering and equipment, it's a death wish to enter a zone where they inhabit.

In a perfect world, we would be able to avoid the forest entirely. Unfortunately, the place Prince Chris has in mind is on the other side of this forest, meaning we have to go through it.

"Somewhat yes." I sigh. "I have connections in the town, Eldermora, the one bordering the forest. I can get us the equipment and a map or something there. Along with more supplies for us."

He nods, and it's quiet for a moment.

"Y/n- that is your name right-?" He asks, and I nod. "Alright. Y/n, do you think you could maybe.. teach me how to use a sword on the way there?"

"Prince Yongbok-" He cuts me off. "Please, call me Felix" I nod.

"Prince Felix, If that is what you want, I will gladly train you," I say, while bowing. "Thank you!" The prince hugs me but immediately pulls away. "I- sorry-" he stammers.

I shake my head. "Don't worry about it, your majesty. Now, it's 5 pm. If you would like to get some rest before midnight I suggest you do that now." He nods and turns to leave, but not before he stops and smiles over his shoulder. The sun from the window illuminated his freckled face. "Thank you, again." And with that, he leaves.

I finish packing some things hours later after eating and bathing. The things include shillings, small portions of potions, and gauze.

I check the clock on the wall.

'11:30. The Princes should be set up. Here we go Y/n, your chance to finally prove yourself.'
