"I'm not holding your hand," Yuna said firmly.
"But we agreed on it," Chaeryeong replied.
"I regret it," Yuna huffed, facing forward and looking at the big mansion ahead.
"Too bad, we have to do this," Chaeryeong said, taking the first step and exhaling her frustrations. "It's for our parents and our image. And I'm sure your agent would be angry if you messed it up, right?"
Yuna narrowed her eyes. "Do we really have to do this?"
Since when did Shin Yuna become so grumpy?
Chaeryeong wanted to laugh, but she held back and nodded with pursed lips, offering her hand. Yuna stared at it for a few seconds before grabbing it, looking uncomfortable.
"Your hand is warm," Chaeryeong commented.
"Let's just get this over with," Yuna sighed.
They had arrived at the Lees' property ten minutes ago, but most of that time was spent arguing about how to act like a good couple. Yuna disliked physical contact with anyone, so they had spent a long time discussing the mandatory rules and why they had to do this for their parents and themselves.
And the fact that only three other people knew about their contract engagement was bothering, because that meant they'd have to act like a genuine couple in love - which, by the way, cringed Yuna the hell out.
Tapping the modernized door bell, the two waited, hand in hand. Chaeryeong could feel how uncomfortable the model was just because of the way her fingers had twitched. It was quite funny, yet it was hard to deny that she didn't feel the same way.
Holding a stranger's hand? That's a no-no.
The door swung open, snapping her out of her thoughts. The couple were immediately greeted by their family butler.
"Young master!" He exclaimed, his expression full of surprise. "And I thought you were going to be late. Welcome back, m'lady!"
Chaeryeong beamed and enveloped the older in a hug, "It's been too long, Hajoon."
"Indeed it has," the man grinned, then his gaze landed on the figure behind her. "And I see that you got yourself a stunning partner! May I know your name?"
Yuna smiled politely, activating her acting skills for the sake of both of them. "Shin Yuna, pleasure to meet you."
"Hurry and come on inside," Hajoon smiled warmly and let go of the young Lee, stepping aside so the couple could enter.
Only a few seconds after entering, Chaeryeong was crowded by her family members — mostly her cousins and aunties.
"You look very thin, Chaeryeong," one of her aunts commented as usual. She wasn't sure if it was a compliment or an insult, but she had learned to get used to all the indirect insults.
"Thank you, Mrs. Im." She smiled and before she could say anything else, a hand slid into hers.
"Is this your fiancée?" One of her cousin, Heeju, exclaimed, her mouth agape.
"Nice to meet you all," Yuna smiled charmingly at all the people around them, pulling Chaeryeong closer with her hand, then disconnecting their interlocked hands just to snake an arm around her waist.
Goosebumps.
To Chaeryeong's surprise, Yuna had gotten along with her cousins and aunts with no trouble, and it was probably because of that captivating smile she had on the whole time. Her acting skills sure are great, Chaeryeong couldn't even tell if she was putting on a fake smile or not.
