Kirti wasn't sure if she should go into the room just yet and talk to Veer or should she leave and maybe approach her brother once the emotionally charged moment had calmed down. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop on their conversation. Hell, she wouldn't have been here if she hadn't noticed the tense bleakness on Veer's face when Isha had arrived with her parents and then seen Veer following Isha into the house. She may have even left after the first few seconds but there had been something. Some strange current in that room that had made her stop. And now, now she was suddenly the bearer of a secret that no one knew about. Now she knew who Rupal Khanna had been speaking of that night. Veer. The friend who had helped Isha during the difficult phase of her life. Now, unwittingly she knew that their association hadn't just been that of friends, it went way beyond it. And of course, the fact that Veer's hatred for her and Maan was because he blamed them for the breaking of his relationship. She felt partially guilty. And she couldn't help the wave of sympathy that overtook her.

What was Veer's fault in all of this? Or Isha's for that matter? When she had left with Maan, Veer and Isha's relationship had been doomed, it was an entirely different fact that both Veer's parents and hers would never have consented for the alliance owing to Isha's status of a divorcee and Veer not being at par with the Khanna's. They may have given in had Veer been stubborn about it, at least her chacha and chachi would have. He was the first-born son of the family. Preeti chachi had always had an extra soft corner for him. The conflicting thought in all this was that Kirti wasn't sure if Veer would have brought his affair into the open even if Kirti and Maan weren't together. Did her brother really have that kind of courage? She didn't know. Despite everything she couldn't understand how he could blame her and Maan in this? They hadn't known. Veer had never said anything. He had never even dropped a hint about his feelings. And Rupal aunty, what about her? She had known. Why hadn't she done anything about it? Or had she been afraid for Isha? Another blow in the form of rejection may have destroyed the girl. Didn't Isha say she would have waited for as long as it took if Veer had only given her some kind of indication. But Veer hadn't. Instead he had conveniently blamed her and Maan and hidden behind the excuse, letting his relationship go down the drain. Why hadn't he said anything? Why hadn't he fought for Isha if he had loved her as much as he had claimed? Though despite her thoughts she couldn't negate the fact that somewhere Veer truly thought she and Maan had dashed his chances with Isha. Had they really done that? Was she somehow responsible for the breaking of Veer's affair? Had she not gone away with Maan, had she not accepted Maan's proposal would Veer have had that chance of marrying Isha? She felt torn. She felt as if she had done Veer a personal damage. But those were her emotions. Her head told her something else. As she peered into the room Veer still stood there with his head bent and back towards her. He had changed so much from being a caring, fun loving, warm individual to this...angry, vindictive, cold person. Even his career wasn't going the way he or anybody else would have wanted. He looked so alone, so defeated as he stood there. He had loved Isha, maybe he still did from what she had heard. She couldn't have mistaken some of those emotions that had been there when he had talked to Isha. Of course, there had been hatred but it wasn't genuine, or was it? It was just convenient to blame them. Was it wise to approach him right now? What would she say? Would he talk? Or would he yell? Isha had moved on in life, she was happy, but what of Veer... he seemed to be stuck in a limbo. Destroying himself and not really moving or living. Did she have the guts to approach him and then take the outcome? She didn't know. What she did know was that she couldn't leave him here like this. She may never get another chance to sort this out. Besides, her own sense of fair and right would give her guilty, sleepless nights if she left here. Then before she could think twice she walked into the room.

"Veer," she called out tentatively announcing her presence not sure how he would respond. She took a couple of steps towards her brother and then paused. If he became insulting she would leave.
