I got out of bed and looked at the clock above my desk. "Shit" I mumbled, rushing out of my room and into the kitchen. It's close to seven o'clock, which means I have to hurry up with dinner. I scrambled through the fridge and cupboards and found something worth making.

So once it was done I did my usual thing, which was made sure my parent's plates were filled and covered before washing the pans out and rushing back up to my room afterwards. They'll be home any second so I don't want to be down there when they do.

I was able to sneak a sandwich this time but I'm hoping they don't notice.
I scarfed it down before chugging some water. The cool liquid felt nice on my throat. My lip is still sore from earlier, so I've been grabbing ice cubes whenever I can to help numb the pain.

"CLAIRE GET DOWN HERE" I hear what sounds like my mom calling.
Oh no. I quickly make my way downstairs and into the kitchen. I looked at my mom and frowned before speaking. "Yes mother?" I said quietly. "Clean this up. I'm going out with your father, we'll be back by midnight" she said, walking out of the kitchen and outside with my dad.

Doing as told, I grabbed the plates and silverware and brought them to the sink. After washing them, I put them away and made sure the rest of the kitchen was clean. Afterwards, I headed back upstairs and into my room.

I went to my nightstand picking up my phone. I'm shocked that they even gave me one. I looked at my screen confused, as I saw a message from an unknown number..

Unknown: hey beautiful

My mind keeps going back and forth on rather I should reply or not. But after staring at it for a few minutes, I answered. Which probably wasn't the best idea.

Me: uh... who's this?

It didn't take the person very long to respond because right after I answered,  literally a minute later I got a text. I cringed after I read it..

Unknown: don't worry babe, you'll find out soon enough ;)

I turned my phone off, tossing it on the night stand. Just the thought of that made me shiver a bit. So before I headed to bed, I went to my window making sure it's completely locked and the blinds are covering it so nobody can see in. After that, I slipped into bed, and in seconds I fell asleep.
