Chapter Twenty-Four

He opened his mouth to speak but I stopped him, by getting up and walking away. Unfortunately though, he grabbed ahold of my wrist. "Let me go" I begged, with pleading eyes. He sighed.

"No" he said firmly, gripping my wrist tighter. His other hand went to the small of my back, pulling me closer to him. I put my hands on his chest as I stared up at him. His eyes were showing mixed emotions, but one of them was love. He leaned, and connected our lips.

The kiss was slow and sweet. And in that moment, I couldn't help but just fall even more. But just then, my thoughts got the best of me and I pulled away slowly. I backed away slowly, letting out a sad sigh, as he looked at me with a mixture of hurt and confused evident in his eyes.

"I'm sorry" I said again, quickly walking away and running into my own room. I ran into the bathroom and slid to the floor. I covered my mouth with my hand as I cried. Why am I so damn afraid? Why was I so scared? I know he wouldn't hurt me. So I don't understand why I let my insane thoughts get to me.

"Claire, can we talk?" I heard from outside the bathroom door. I didn't answer, instead I just cried harder. I heard a loud sigh, before he spoke again. "Please, just open the door" he said. "It's not locked" I replied, letting out a small breath. It took a few seconds for him to open the door and be seated next to me. The same way from in his room. He sighed loudly again, before he spoke.

"I understand that you're most likely afraid. But I want you to know that you don't have to feel like that towards me. I will never hurt you, as I keep promising. you can trust me, okay?" He said, reassuringly. I nodded, following with an "Okay" he smiled, grabbing my hands and leading me out of the bathroom.

We were now just laying on his bed, he turned on a movie but I wasn't paying attention. My mind just kept wondering how he really felt towards me.

Minutes later, I fell asleep with that thought still on my mind..
