I woke up in a panic. My eyes wandering around terrified at the sight. I'm on my bed. In my room. At my parents house. No, how'd I get here? Where's Ivan? What happened?
Am I dreaming? Or was I dreaming of him? That I was actually saved from this hell hole? There's no way..
This has to be a dream.
Just then my door bursted open, and my parents came into view. My eyes widened and I jumped off the bed and ran to the corner beside where the bed is. My father chuckled. "Don't be so afraid of us dear" he smiled. Which only caused me to be even more terrified.
"Wha-what do you want?" I asked, my voice a bit shaky. My mother smiled, but it wasn't genuine. I gulped, gripping the bedframe as they walked closer. "Don't you know what time it is?" My father asked. "You've been sleeping for a very long time honey" my mother grinned, wickedly. I shuddered. "Now it's time for you to stop being so damn lazy. You had your rest, now get busy. We're starving" my father spat.
"No" I whimpered when his hand came in contact with my cheek. I leaped onto my bed and ran out of the room. "You can't escape from us sweetheart" my mother's words felt like poison in my ears. I ignored her, and just kept running. I opened the door and ran outside.
Deja Vu hitting me like a brick.
I heard my name being called but I didn't answer. I just kept running. I ran as fast as I could possibly run just to get as far away as I could from there. "Claire" I heard again. It sounded like it was getting closer. "No" I breathed out, running even faster. I didn't want them to get me. I didn't want to go back to them. I just wanted to be free.
No matter how tired I am right now, I didn't stop running. I heard my name again and saw a figure ahead of me. The man looks familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I ran until he came into view. "Claire" he said. "Ivan?" I questioned.
He didn't answer, he just slowly started disappearing. "Ivan" I yelled. "I'm here" I heard, but I didn't see him. At this point all I could see was darkness. Last I knew I was twenty or so blocks away from my parents. I didn't even see or hear them anymore. Ivan came back into view, but then disappeared once again.
"Ivan" I cried. "Please help me" I begged. "I'm here. I'm right here baby" he said, his voice sounding distant. I couldn't see him though. "I don't see you" I cried out. "Open your eyes" he said, his voice echoing in my ear. I kept running and crying not knowing what to do. "Claire, wake up" "please just wake up" I heard again. I felt hands shaking me.
I stopped running and just sat down with my knees up to my chest. "Ivan" I cried again. Why can't I wake up? I want to wake up from this nightmare. I heard a sigh, before hearing his voice.
"Baby, you have to wake up. I'm right here, I promise but you need to open your eyes" I tried, but I couldn't. I pinched myself, hoping that'll work. Suddenly, I felt a shove on my shoulder which caused me to bolt up. I clutched my chest, my heart was pounding and I just felt dizzy for some reason.
My eyes darted around the room until the fell on Ivan. I reached my hand up and touched his face. I sighed in relief. He's here. He really is here. That was just a dream. A very painful dream.
"See, I'm right here" he said, smiling at me. I moved my hand away from his face, and put my arms around him, trapping him in a hug. He seemed taken aback for a second before he threw his arms around me. "You okay?" He questioned. I nodded. "I am now, thank you" I said. For now though, I was actually okay. Just as long as he's here with me.
I feel safe with him.
