Trouble
"So that's how she was healed," Damon said, understanding the situation from last night. Caroline had called Elena, who had us on speaker.
"Why didn't you tell someone, Morgan?" Elena asked. My friends were very upset with me for keeping my encounter with Klaus a secret.
"There was nothing to tell," I shrugged. Caroline glanced over at me as she drove us back to Mystic Falls. "He didn't hurt me or threaten me. I wasn't aware that everything that went on in my life was your business."
"It is when it comes to Klaus!" Damon exclaimed. I groaned as he continued to rant. "In case you've forgotten, he killed Jenna and John. He also killed Elena. He's a monster and we need to know if he gets around you."
"What would you have done, Damon?" I yelled. "Tell him not to heal me? He wasn't going to hurt me!"
"You didn't know that!"
"Oh but I did!" I argued. "If he wanted me dead, he would've done it the second he saw me. I got news for you. I'm very much alive, Damon. I'll let you know when my life is endangered, but for now it isn't."
I opened the car door and slammed it behind me. Caroline rolled down her window. I walked down the road, trying to get away from everyone for a while.
"Morgan, get in the car," Caroline demanded.
"No thanks," I huffed. "I need some time alone." It seems like I've had to resort to walking home allot here lately.
Caroline finally gave up after five minutes of following beside me. I let out a sigh of relief as she drove past me. We had been driving for around twenty minutes before I got out. On foot, it would take me around twenty minutes to get home. My feet began to hurt. My shoes were rubbing the back of my heels, forming blisters. I groaned as I slipped my shoes off and began to carry them along with me.
The road was fairly empty. A car would pass every once in a while, but it seemed that everyone decided to stay home today. I eventually gave up on walking and sat down on a tree that had fallen down. I held my head in my hands in frustration. I should've just let Caroline drive me home. I was so tired.
"Do you need a ride, love?" A familiar voice asked. I lifted my head to see the hybrid staring at me. I stood up, unaware of why I was walking to his car.
"As much as I would love to take you up on that offer," I began. "I would get in allot of trouble with some friends of mine. You see, I have to report my every movement to them because I can't have a life of my own."
His eyebrows shot up in amusement along with a smirk. I found myself laughing at his expression before scratching the back of my neck nervously, realizing exactly who I was ranting to.
"Sorry, I've just had a stressful day," I said embarrassedly. I felt my cheeks flush. My friends were going to be pissed that I was talking to Klaus. Then an evil grin formed across my lips. "Actually, I would love a ride."
He smiled as I hopped inside. I reached across and buckled my seatbelt as Klaus began to drive. He kept glancing over at me, causing me to feel a little uncomfortable.
"You're so different from your friends," he spoke, breaking the silence. "You're more trusting. And you've got quite a bit of fire in you. You're only riding with me to upset them, aren't you?"
"Maybe," I shrugged my shoulders. I stared out the window as everything blurred past us. "And who said I trusted you?"
"Well. considering you're in a car with me," he smirked. "I'm just gonna say that you do."
"Well, maybe I don't trust you. Maybe I was hoping that you would kill me," I suggested. "Just an idea."
"I certainly hope that wasn't your reasoning for getting in this car," he chuckled, knowing I was bluffing. "I promise, I'm not going to be killing you any time soon."
"What's your definition of soon?" I joked. He laughed along with me. I felt surprisingly comfortable around him. "But seriously, I have to know. Why did you save me?"
"I don't know," he sighed. "I do allot of things without really thinking. Maybe I saved you because I saw something worth saving."
"Thank you, by the way," I said as I continued to direct him to my house. "Thank you for everything."
"Anytime," he smiled. It was a truly genuine smile. We pulled up to my house and he parked the car. I bit my lip as I opened the door and got out. Why did I feel like I could trust him?
"Thanks again," I said. "I would invite you in, but... no offense or anything."
"None taken," he laughed. "Maybe one day." I smiled and nodded my head. I would like that. I would like to be friends with Klaus. Actually, I think I already was.
Klaus waited for me to make it inside like a gentleman. I shut the door and heard the sound of his car drive away. I slid down the door, glancing down at my phone. It was blowing up with texts from my friends. I was in so much trouble. I really didn't care either.
