New Orleans

The drive was a long one, but it would all be worth it. The city was apparently crawling with vampires, according to Stefan. He had called me about something and I let it slip where I was. I made him swear not to tell anyone where Bonnie and I were, though. They couldn't know until I found out the whole story for myself. I was worried about how Klaus would react to Elijah breaking his neck. I really owed him one for that.

We arrived late that night. Bonnie booked a motel room and I went off to the bar. As soon as I sat down, someone sat down beside me. The man smiled at me and offered me a drink. I shook my head, knowing exactly how this city worked. Vampires controlled everything and I wasn't going to trust anyone.

"No thank you," I shouted over the music. "Hey, you don't happen to know where I can find someone named Sophie? Do you?"

"Sophie the witch?" He questioned. I nodded my head. "Yeah, she runs a restaurant up town. Why do you need her?"

"I need to ask a favor of her," I answered. The man just stared at me, scaring me a little. "Well, thanks for your help."

I walked out of the bar and back up the little alley. Before I knew it, I was slammed against the side of one of the buildings. The man from the bar was holding me still.

"You aren't from around here, but let me make some things clear. We don't do magic here. Vampires run this city. I think you need to learn that," he growled at me. He bit into my neck and I let out a scream. The music from the inside of the bar hid my pleas for help. The man quickly dropped to the ground. I looked up to see an angry Damon.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" He yelled. I looked at him guiltily. "What are you even doing here?"

My hand instantly went up to my neck. It hurt more than anything. I looked back at my hand and almost fainted at the sight of so much blood. Damon groaned before biting his wrist and pushing it towards my mouth. I grabbed it and began to drink. I pulled my mouth back and watched as the wound began to disappear.

"Thank you, Damon," I said, hugging my best friend. "We need to find Sophie. I'll explain everything on the way there."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*

"Hello? Is anyone here named Sophie?" I called out into the empty shop. Damon wrapped an arm around my way protectively.

"I'm Sophie," a girl stepped out. She seemed to be in her early twenties. I hesitantly walked away from Damon. "I know what you want and I'm afraid it is not allowed."

"Look woman, we aren't going to tell anyone. Just do the damn spell already," Damon demanded.

"They will know," the woman shook her head. "They always know. They will kill me if I practice magic."

"Well, I'm going to kill you if you don't. It's better to have died with a purpose," Damon threatened her.

"Damon!" I exclaimed. "Please help me. It's very important that I get my memory back."

The woman stepped closer to me and cupped my face. I was extremely uncomfortable, but I wasn't going to tell her that.

"Foolish girl," she said disapprovingly. "I promise that it is best you remain naive to the things you so desperately seek."

"How? How is it better to live in oblivion to my past? I deserve to know," I said, tears beginning to flow. This was the end of the road. I would never know about my life.

The woman looked at me sadly. She walked into the back and began to write something down. We eyed it warily before she handed me the slip of paper.

"I may not be able to perform the spell you need, but your friend can. Have her save her strength and do it, but she must wait until you leave New Orleans to do it or she will be forced to pay the price," Sophie warned me.

"Thank you," I nodded before rushing out of the store.

Damon followed behind me. I felt his arms wrap around me and soon we speeding towards the motel. Damon dropped me down on the door step. I fished out my key and smiled as we stepped inside. I was getting closer to my answers. I pushed my way inside and laughed when I saw Bonnie asleep on the opposite bed. She laid right smack dab in the center of the bed.

"Guess we're sharing," Damon smirked at me.

"Fine, but try not to cuddle me this time," I teased. I pulled the comforter up and slipped under it. Damon mimicked my moves. I laid there and stared up at the ceiling.

"So what do you think your backstory is?" He asked me. "I mean, obviously something happened between you and Klaus. Do you think you dated?"

"I have no idea," I shrugged. "Maybe he had a crush on me and bought me the necklace. I don't have a clue, but I'll find out tomorrow."

"Are you nervous?" He questioned, turning into his side to look at me. I flopped onto my side and stared back.

"A little," I admitted. "I don't know what happened in the past, but Klaus seems to think that it's good I forgot. I know I won't remember everything, but what if whatever I see makes me long for even more? I can't just drain Klaus of every drop of blood that he has. He's probably already pissed at me."

"What if you did date?" He asked. "What if you found out that you loved him? Would you go back to him?"

"I don't know Damon," I sighed, feeling anxious about what I would be finding out. "Just go to sleep, yeah?"

He didn't answer and within minutes, I could hear his soft breathing. He and Bonnie were asleep and my mind was left to wander about what could have been.

"Ugh this is hard," I complained, looking around the store. We had walked each and every corner of the stupid mall and I hadn't been able to find anything.

"No it's not," my mother disagreed. "You're just being complicated."

"I just want to get him something special," I sighed. "What do you get someone who has given you everything?"

"I bet he hasn't given you these before," My mother smirked as she held up a black laced thong with a pink bow on it.

"Mother!" I gasped as my face went blood red. She laughed as I took them from her hand and threw them onto a random shelf. "What the hell?"

"I'm just kidding," she giggled. "But who knows? Maybe it's time to give it a whirl. I think that it's okay to as long as you truly love him."

"Are you saying I should give him birthday sex?" I asked in disbelief. How could my mother even talk to me about this? It was so awkward.

"No, I'm not saying you should," she laughed. "It's just an idea. I mean, no man wouldn't love some good ole birthday sex. That was your father's present every year and I never once heard a complaint," she grinned.

"Okay, yeah no," I gagged. "I'm done with this discussion. You're gonna make me throw up."

A/N:

Fun memory of Morgan's mom. Dunno if I've ever named her, but I imagine her as Katherine Heigel, so let's call her Kathy. Anyways, lemme know what you think about the whole Klaus and Morgan thing.... Predictions anyone?
