The next day, 5pm, Chordstop audition...

Kean beckoned me to go up front.

I took my guitar from the case and went beside him.

"Fighting!" Elise cheered from the far end of the room. She has a video cam ready. Good thing Kean allowed her to watch.

There are about 20 students inside. Mostly guys. Eight are ladies. But all are holding a string instrument. The guy seated in the front row has a guqin, a traditional Chinese instrument.

"Okay, Rose Anne, shall you introduce yourself?" Kean went to sit beside a girl with large thick glasses.

I smiled. "Hi, I'm Rose Anne Leighton. First year, Music Education. Uhm... I haven't played the guitar for ages. I learned to play it from my dad, but he passed away when I was younger. I guess I felt too lonely to play it. But recently, Kean here asked me if I want to try Chordstop. And I realized, I have missed playing. Like playing the guitar the way I used to play it." I positioned the guitar. "I'm going to play my parents' favorite piece, this was played as the entrance song at their wedding. Canon in D by Pachelbel."

While playing, I closed my eyes and reminisced the days I had with dad

While playing, I closed my eyes and reminisced the days I had with dad. He was there, everytime I come home from school. He was there at every special occasion. He was there even when he became sick. I still remember how he held my hand even when he cannot fight anymore.

He told me he loves me.

That whatever happens, I will always be his girl.

And just like this song, this melody, it will last a lifetime. Mom might find a new love. I might get old. Everything might change. But it will endure. Dad will always have a space in my heart.

The last note ended and I opened my eyes. The students in the room are teary eyed. Elise is giving me a thumbs up, while wiping away fake tears exaggeratedly.

Kean went to me and tapped my back, "That was heartfelt, Rose."

"Thank you," I muttered. "Sorry if I made you sad."
