Chapter -3 , "Playing hide and seek with each other's feelings."

He sat beside me and asked, ''What about her?'' I turned towards him and cleared my throat, ''see... she is already in depression. According to my knowledge, this is her fourth panic attack in a year. So, if this worsens or becomes more frequent, she might need hospitalization! You know that very well."

He nodded , I furrowed my brows asking him ''So, what she is worrying about ?''. He bore into my eyes. Suddenly he turn his head aside and stood from the sofa. He closed the eyes , balled his hand into a fist and chuckled bitterly. I couldn't find anything funny. He is really pissing me off . '' what is it ?'' I asked him , ''My marriage'' he answered back in frustrated tone . My eyes widened. ''okay'' I whispered . He was about to say something , suddenly we both heard a slight groan from Sharadha ma . I jerked from the sofa and sat beside her . She was struggling to say something to me. "Ma... it's okay... I am here. Don't stress yourself. Go to sleep now. We'll talk later," I said, and she slowly closed her eyes. "What is happening to her?!" Vasu started shouting behind me. I turned my head towards him. "Just shut your mouth and leave!" I yelled at him. The next moment, he wasn't there.

I turned towards Ma and checked on her once again. Then, I called her doctors to provide an update about her condition. After a while, she went to sleep, and I sighed in relief. She held my hand tightly, making it impossible for me to remove it. I sat with her for a while, feeling myself start to yawn. Eventually, I drifted off to sleep.

I felt a hand on my shoulder , waking me up . '' Hey....Wake up ......" I groaned slightly and opened my eyes , Vasu's face came into view. "What time is it ?'' I asked him with a groan and I jerked from ma's bed . I started checking on her ,'' It's 3am , She is fine , Just a moment ago, she opened her eyes and saw you'' he said with a smile.

I sighed and woke up from the bed. "Madhu, come on, let's go," he said, holding my hand. "No! I can't leave her like this. You go and sleep. I'll stay with her," I said. He let out a sigh. "No, she is fine. If she wakes up, she will call us. Okay!" he said, starting to drag me out of the room.

As we came out of the room, I released my hand from his grip. He smiled and asked, "I'm going to make coffee, do you want some?" My eyes glanced at the clock. "Are you crazy? It's 3 am in the morning. Who drinks coffee at this time?" I asked him. Without any hesitation, he replied, "Me!" I rolled my eyes , I said "For me too." He smiled at me. "I'll sit on the sofa for a while. My back is hurting," I told him, and he nodded.

I went to the sofa, sat down, and kept my head at the edge. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep

Vasu's POV :

6 months ago .

I saw her from a distance, she is wearing a white T-shirt that reached her mid-thighs, black jeans, and a black overcoat. She was dragging a trolley, running towards her brother Karan, who stood beside me. She was beautiful with her chubby face, eyeglasses, and mild curly hair tied into a ponytail. I felt captivated upon seeing her. She approached her brother, who stood with his arms wide open to hug her. "Vasu, this is Madhu - my sister. And Madhu, this is Vasu - a detective, my partner, and our neighbor," he said, and we shook hands. We began moving towards the car, and I was amazed. "Where the hell was she all this time?" I asked myself. As time passed, every little thing she did made me fall head over heels in love with her. I was afraid what if I approach and she rejects me? Confusion filled my mind, and I didn't know what to do.

Present day:

It is nearly 7 PM , I find myself in a meeting. Our entire unit is gathered in the conference room, discussing a case. However, I am unable to concentrate. Her presence in my life has completely turned my world upside down. Leaning back in a rolling chair, I begin absentmindedly scribbling her name.
