Karan’s POV
I was very nervous, so I took the day off because I am excited to know what my sister's answer will be. A hand snaked around my waist from behind. "Priya," I said and sighed. Her head rested on my back. "Why are you stressing yourself? Madhu will definitely say YES!" she said. I turned around to face her and wrapped my arms around her neck. "How did you know? Has she told you anything before, Priya?" I asked. She shook her head. "No! She didn't, and she won't tell anyone, not even Vasu himself. I have a hunch feeling that she is in love with him. She is holding herself back because she's thinking about the relationship between you and Vasu, and the impact it may have on Sharadha Auntie and your parents," she said.
I sighed and placed my head against hers. "Maybe you are right. She is a selfless girl who thinks of others' happiness more than her own," I told her and kissed her forehead. Suddenly, my phone started to ring. I removed my hand from Priya's neck and took the phone out of my pocket. "It's Vasu," I said. Priya asked me to put it on speaker. I told her to remind me to put it on silent. "Hey buddy! Have you told her?" I asked. He said he couldn't because she seemed scared. I reassured him that everything would be fine and encouraged him to tell her as soon as possible. I warned him that if he didn't tell her, I would tell her myself that he is in love with her. Finally, he agreed and hung up the call.
"Both of them are crazy," Priya said with a smile. Priya glanced at her watch. "It's time to pick Meenu," she said. "No, you stay home. I will pick her up," she told me. I sighed and looked at my watch. "No, I will go!" I told her. She held my hand and said, "Listen, I know you're nervous. They need you more than Meenu, hubby! Stay here; I'll be back soon." She reassured me and left the room. As time passed, my nervousness grew. When I saw my wife's car through the window, I went outside to the front yard. As soon as Meenu  saw me, ‘’Daddy …’’ she screamed in giggles with excitement and ran towards me. I dropped to my knees to lift her up. Meenu ran into my arms, and she began enthusiastically sharing details about her day at school.
Suddenly, my eyes widened and I stopped at Vasu's parking lot. I was confused, thinking, "What the hell is Vasu's car doing here?" I said, "Daddy... no bad words," my daughter told me, still in my arms. "Sorry, princess! Your future Uncle-in-law doesn't have a brain in his skull!" I told her and turned my head to Priya, who was standing beside me. Priya gasped and asked in a panicked voice, "What is going on, Karan? Why is Vasu's car here? If he's at home, then where is Madhu?" We both stared at each other.
I sighed and handed the menu to Priya. "I will call that dumbass! Take the menu inside, Priya," I said. I reached into my pocket, took out my phone, and dialed Vasu's number. He didn't answer my call. I tried calling Madhu too, but she also didn't answer. "Okay, I'm going to kill that dumbass right now, and will find the best man to my sister by myself ," I muttered to myself.
I began walking towards his house when my phone started ringing. It was Vasu calling, I answered the call and "Yeah, buddy!" he said .I immediately started yelling at him, asking where he was and whether he had confessed to   Madhu or not . I also questioned why his car was parked in his parking lot. He laughed and said, "Whoaoooo... Buddy, I'm at home! See for yourself." He moved the curtains in his living room, and I could see his face, which appeared free of tension, stress, and glowing with relaxation.

I was confused, and my eyes widened as I heard a voice that belonged to my sister. "Vasu! How long will it take you to finish the call?" I was shocked. "I'm coming, Madhu!" he replied. I stood frozen, not moving a muscle. "Is she with you?" I asked him. "Yes, buddy! Her answer is yes! I'll talk to you later, my girl is waiting for me. Bye," he said and hung up.
I am very happy for Vasu and Madhu; finally, they made it. I want to hug my sister and congratulate her. But not now, let them spend some quality time together. I sighed, relaxed, and entered the living room. They were all sitting on the sofa, chatting. When I entered, all eyes turned towards me. Priya, who was sitting on the sofa, stood up and ran towards me. "What happened? Have you called Vasu? Any idea where Madhu is?" she asked in a panicked tone.
She is waiting for my reply. I smiled at her and she asked, "Why are you smiling?" with one eyebrow raised. I held both of Priya's hands and said with a smile, "Why don't we leave them alone and let them spend some quality time together?" She jerked her hand and narrowed her eyes, saying, "What are you talking about? I wanted to..." She stopped abruptly.
I saw her with a wide smile on my face and said, "It's a yes, from our stupid  Madhu." She is  happy, and hugged me tightly and started laughing. She pulled away from the hug and exclaimed, "Seriously! She said yes! That stupid  girl, why did she take so long to confess?" She said all this while still smiling.
"What are you two doing?" suddenly my father asked Priya and me. I walked towards the living room and informed my family that Madhu had finally confessed her love to Vasu. My family and Sharadha ma were overjoyed, hugging each other. Suddenly, a voice interrupted us, it was Talia. "What's going on here? Where is Madhu? Why hasn't she reached home yet? Has anyone called her? I've tried so many times, but she didn't answer!" she said with fear in her voice. I approached her and said, "Relax, my little sister! Listen to me, when she gets home, hug her tightly." She furrowed her brows and asked, "What are you talking about, brother?" I smiled and remained silent. "What?" she asked, and I cut her off, saying, "Madhu said yes to Vasu! She said yes, T!" Hearing this, she started jumping in the middle of the room with joy.
My phone started ringing, and it was Vasu. "I'll be back, guys," I said and left the living room, heading into the kitchen. "Yes, buddy!" I answered the phone. Vasu asked me for one last favor—to prank Madhu by pretending that my family and Sharadha ma were against their relationship. I warned him that if she had to face such stupidity, it would break her into pieces. Vasu assured me that he would handle Madhu and hung up the call. "What's wrong, brother? You don't look good!" Talia asked me. I explained everything to my family.
Initially, they thought it was a bad idea, but everyone wanted Madhu to be happy, so they finally agreed to go along with Vasu's plan. However, they were all a little worried about how Madhu would react if she found out that both families were against her relationship with Vasu. I reassured them not to worry because Vasu would be there for her. We were all sitting in the living room, chatting with each other when the doorbell rang. My mother got up from the sofa and walked towards the door to open it. I felt a jolt and sat beside my father. "Pappa... it's them," I said. My father whispered, "God, please give my daughter the strength to handle her mother." I leaned towards him and said, "I hear you, pappa..." and winked at him. "My sister is dead," I sighed.
Madhu’s POV
When my mother asked me a question, I began stammering, "Sorry... mamma... I... got..." She raised her hand in front of my face and said, "Come inside, both of you," she said and left . I swallowed a lump in my throat and turned my head towards Vasu. He held my hand and started rubbing it, saying, "It's okay, we can handle it... Come on, let's go," with a chuckle. I didn't understand why he was so calm and relaxed, but I was trembling with fear about what would happen. Shaking off my thoughts, I started walking inside the house.
After entering the living room, everyone started staring at me. "What? Why are you all staring at me?" I asked, placing my handbag on the table. Everyone remained silent, including Talia. Something felt off. "What is going on between you and Vasu, Madhu?" my mother asked, causing my heart to skip a beat. I turned my head to face her, swallowing a lump in my throat. My gaze fell on Vasu, who was standing in the corner of the living room, nodding with a wink.
I was seriously confused about how Vasu could remain so calm while I was trembling with fear. "You're doing so much drama! Just say it at once, Madhu!" my mini-me shot back at me. "Okay! I want to share an important piece of information with all of you," I said. "What is it?" my mother asked. I cleared my throat and replied, "Well... it's not  happening for quite some time now." Talia, yawning, interjected, "Sweetheart, can you just spill the beans already? I'm feeling so sleepy!" Oh, Talia, what a friend you are. God, please help me. She's my only friend... my best friend who should be there for me, but no... she's more concerned about her beauty sleep. I thought to myself and let out a sigh.
"Beta, can you tell us what is going on?" my father asked me in a neutral tone. One by one, they started asking me questions:
"What happened?"
"What do you want to tell us?"
"What is going on?"
"Are you in love with someone?"
"What is going on between you and Vasu?"
I felt like I was drowning in water, my head spinning, and my vision becoming blurry. I desperately wanted to think straight and not screw this up. "Don't screw this up, sweetheart! You've got this! Think straight! You can handle this," my mini-me said .
"Just stop it, everyone! Just stop it!" I yelled, standing in the middle of the living room. Everyone was shocked by my outburst.
I started to have a panic attack, and Talia quickly came to my aid. "Sweetheart, relax, breathe in and out," she said while gently caressing my back. She handed me a glass of water, but I gasped, "No... I don't want..." My gaze fell on Vasu, and I could see the pain and concern in his eyes. He guided me to focus on my breathing. After a few minutes, I began to regain my composure. Talia helped me sit on the sofa as I trembled with stress, burying my face in both palms.
After a while, I stood up from the sofa and sighed. "Listen, guys, I want to tell you all something. It's about..." but I was cut off by my brother. "It's about what, sister?" he asked. 'He's not my brother; he's just a dumbass idiot,' I thought to myself, giving him an angry look. "Just shut up! Let me complete," I said in a pissed-off tone. "Tell them now! You stupid girl," my mini-me shot back at me again.
I shook myself out of my thoughts and cleared my throat. "It's about me and Vasu," I said. "Me and Vasu love each other! It hasn't been happening for a very long time. We confessed our feelings to each other just a few hours ago." I closed my eyes, preparing for what felt like an impending war about to break out in my house. I held my hands tightly together, bracing myself. However, to my surprise, there was complete silence. No gossiping, no mother coming to slap me, no disappointed voice from my father, no brother interrogating me about how I could fall in love with his co-partner. Nothing. I opened my eyes, shocked by the lack of reaction from anyone, not even my mother. "Since how long have you two been in love, beta?" my father asked me. I turned my head, my gaze falling upon my father.
I explained everything to my father, describing how Vasu and I had been holding back our feelings in order to not hurt our families. Throughout this whole time, Vasu didn't speak a word to my family or stand beside me, which upset me greatly. Then my mother asked, "What if we don't agree with your relationship, Madhu?" I turned my head towards her, trying to hold back my tears, and replied, "I expected this response, Mamma..." I
With a smile, I told everyone, "I will wait." I could feel my father's gaze on me, and I said, "I'm sorry, Pappa... I know you didn't expect this from me. I wanted..." I was about to continue when my father stood up from the sofa. "Come on, beta! It's nothing. If you want to talk alone, we will!" he said, holding my hands. "Sorry, Papa... My plan was to talk with you first, but when Mamma asked, I had to reveal the truth!" I confessed, my gaze fixed on the floor. My heart was pounding uncontrollably. "Let's... talk here itself... please," I asked him, feeling a profuse sweat forming. I had never had a one-on-one conversation with him in my entire life. Suddenly, everything went dark.
