Vasu’s POV

I was sitting beside Madhu, tending to her wound. Hope informed me that she would arrange for us to leave for the institute and then left. I didn’t leave Madhu’s side for even a second. After a few minutes, Hope came back to check on Madhu periodically. She also mentioned that she had informed Magnus about the incident. I jerked my head towards her. "What did he say?" I asked. She sighed. "He said we should be at the institute ASAP!" she replied and then left the room with Jace. I held Madhu’s hand in mine and kissed the back of her hand.

stood up from the bed and started to pack our stuff. Suddenly, the door opened, and Hope and Jace came in. "Is she awake?" Hope asked. I shook my head. She sighed. "Okay! We have to leave within an hour," she said. I lifted my head. "What about her?" I asked, pointing my finger towards Madhu. Hope folded her arms against her chest. "She will be awake soon... I hope so. In the meantime, go and talk with your families. I will stay with her," she said, and I nodded.

I walked toward the bed and pulled the comforter over Madhu. I bent forward and whispered in her ear, "I want you to open your eyes when I come back... please, sweetheart! I know you can hear me... so wake up... please, babe!" I placed a kiss on her cheek. I stood up from the bed, and Hope nodded at me. I exhaled to calm myself and walked toward the living room.

After seeing me, Karan walked towards me. Before he could ask, I assured him, "She is fine... sleeping. Be with her, I will talk with them!" I said, and with a nod, he walked towards my room. I sighed. I saw Madhu’s father approaching me. "I am sorry for earlier," he apologized. I stopped him from saying more, "Papa! It's not your fault. She will be fine. We are leaving in an hour," I said. My eyes locked with Madhu’s mother, and I started to walk towards her, but Madhu’s father grabbed my hand. "Where are you going?" he asked. "I need to talk with her! I need to know the reason why she did this to Madhu," I said. He shook his head and held my arm tighter. "No!" he stopped me. I furrowed my brow. "No! I said NO! My priority is sending you both off without any drama. I don’t want you to get into any argument with her," he whispered. Our gazes locked. "I already talked with her... she is so stubborn about their staying!" he said, which made my eyes widen in shock. "Seriously, Papa!..." I started, but he cut me off. "I am not supporting her... she can’t get her head straight when it comes to her family!" he said and sighed.

I really wanted to ask him why, but his voice startled me. "What is she doing?" he asked. My heart skipped a beat. What if he asked to see her? What would I do? How would he react after seeing her condition? I felt his hand on my shoulder. "Ahem... she... she... is sleeping," I stammered. He furrowed his brow. "What is wrong? Is she okay?" he asked nervously. I can't share anything with anyone, not anymore. I exhaled. "Papa, relax. She is fine. As you saw earlier, she cried a lot. After reaching here, she was the same... so she slept off. I will bring her down in a while," I said. He smiled at me. "I will join you," he said. My eyes widened. "No!" I yelled. He stopped abruptly and turned towards me. "What is it, beta?" he asked. I cleared my throat. "Papa, can I bring her myself, please? She is... she is..." I stammered. He smiled at me. "I understand... as you wish," he said and left.

I sighed in relief and walked to my room. I saw Karan coming out. "Is she awake?" I asked. He slowly shook his head. "Not yet," he said. I closed my eyes and exhaled. "I will go to her. You be with them... handle them carefully, buddy. Don’t let anyone come to my room until we come down!" I instructed him, and he nodded.

After reaching my room, I pushed the door open and my eyes instantly fell on my girl, who was still asleep in my bed. I just couldn’t break down now. I had to be strong for both of us. This was the mantra I kept repeating in my mind since I found out the truth.

My gaze locked with Hope, who was sitting beside Madhu. Before I could start, she said, "Don’t worry! She is fine, better than a few minutes ago. She will wake up soon!" She reassured me repeatedly. I couldn’t hold onto my patience anymore.
