Vasu's POV:
It has been a while since Mangus left, and he hasn't returned yet. My eyes fell on Madhu, who was perfectly cradled in my arms. "Why the hell is this happening to her?" I cursed in my mind. Her body is still cold, but it's getting better now. My phone started to vibrate, displaying Karan's name on the caller ID. I sighed in frustration and didn't answer because I had no idea what to talk about. My room door slowly opened, and Mangus and Hope came inside. "How is she? Is she awake?" Hope whispered and approached Madhu. She placed her hand on Madhu's forehead and sighed, "She is better than before; she will be fine soon." Hope said. I sighed in relief and gently pulled Madhu from my arms and tucked her securely under the blankets. I gave her a kiss on the forehead. I got out of bed and whispered, "We need to talk!" Hope and Mangus nodded together and left the room, and before leaving, I glanced at Madhu once more.
We all gathered in the living room. I sighed and leaned on the table, lifting my head to meet Mangus' gaze. "So, what do we do now?" I asked, struggling to contain my anger. Mangus and the others exchanged glances. I scoffed and understood what they were going to say: "I'm not letting anyone take her away from me or her family. Don't even try to say it," I said through gritted teeth. Mangus smiled and approached me. "Okay, there is another option!" he said. I raised an eyebrow and voiced, "Think before you suggest it." Before Mangus could respond, Hope spoke up. "Listen, I understand how you feel. You've already seen how she unknowingly used her magic. She needs to learn how to control it, and the only place where it's currently safest for her is the Institute," Hope said, taking a step closer to me.
I furrowed my brow. "I can't lose her. I won't be able to stay away from her. We've finally found happiness after such a long time," I said, and then walked away from the living room. Hope stepped in front of me, blocking my path with her hands stretched out to the sides. Her face turned red, indicating her anger. "You won't lose her, but neither will I. She's all I have," she said, tears welling up in her eyes. I narrowed my eyes. "What do you mean? You don't even know her... So, you better stay away from her!" I shot back angrily, walking past Hope. "I can't do that! You are such a stone-hearted man... Who the hell are you telling me to stay away from my sister?" Hope yelled at me.
I abruptly stopped and turned around. "What! Sister... what the..." I was cut off by Hope. "Yes... Madhu is my elder sister. Because of you, she turned into chaos... you're responsible for her condition!" she said, fighting back tears welling up in her eyes. "So... don't you dare tell me to stay away from her. If you did so... I will kick your ass. Do you understand me, Mr. Detective?" she shot back angrily and walked past me. I pinched the skin on my forehead. Sister!... Am I responsible for her condition?... My head is completely messed up; I can't think straight. I turned around and saw Mangus walking towards me. "What the hell was that?" I said, grabbing a handful of my hair and sighing.
Mangus stopped in front of me. "Listen! Calm down... please... Don't mistake her," he said. I gave him a dagger-like look. "Then why on Earth did she tell me that Madhu's life is in danger because of me?" I asked him. He remained silent for a while, which only frustrated me further. "Answer me now! I don't even know you, but I trusted you because you helped her!" I screamed at him. He walked closer to me. "Will you please cool your head for a moment?" he said. I was about to speak, but he cut me off. "Listen, if you calm down, I can explain. I know that until this incident, you had no idea that supernatural beings like witches and werewolves existed in this world. So, when you're ready, I'll explain everything to you," he said.
I furrowed my brows, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath to calm myself. Gaining a clear understanding of this situation is crucial for me right now. I needed to know all the details so that I could better handle Madhu if something like this happened again. I opened my eyes and walked towards Mangus. "I'm ready now. Explain now ," I said in a calm tone. Mangus nodded. "Certainly, she is not in any danger because of you," he said and took a step closer to me.
I furrowed my brow and sighed. "I still don't fully understand. Please explain it to me," I requested. Mangus put his hands in his coat pockets. "A gifted witch's power can become chaotic when their mate is in danger. We located Madhu by tapping into her magic energy and came to help her," he explained. Now it was slowly starting to make sense. I realized what Hope meant—when Madhu saw me lying on the ground with a gun pointed at me, her magic was triggered. Mangus sighed. "I'm not saying that Madhu needs to stay away from you or her family. I just want her to learn how to control her magic, understand her true identity, and prepare herself as a witch," he said. I looked at him with confusion. It was as if Mangus read my thoughts. "She must learn how to control her magic. Without proper guidance, she will become chaos like we experienced on the train. If she can't control it, her magic itself could become the cause of her death," he explained.
