Now that Kenna is officially out of school we have a lot more time to spend together. I finally found someone to take shifts at Carter's which actually ended up being TJ's younger sister, Lily. We've been back in Channel for two weeks, and though Kenna doesn't want to admit it she's practically living with me.

I obviously don't mind I love waking up next to her. Her smile is the first thing I wake up to and god, I love seeing her toothbrush next to mine, and her clothes and shoes scattered around my room. I have to admit, she can't avoid her family forever, but I know Kenna needs time so I respect that.

I'm working an evening shift today which feels weird because I've been on mornings for the past few weeks but it goes by decently quick. I'm counting the register money, when I get a call from Kenna.

"I feel like I'm going to throw up, I need Dunkin."

"Kenny, Dunkin is going to be the reason you throw up- please drink some water."

"I know I'm just really nervous for the Surf Summit. I can't even think straight. You'll you be there right?"

"I wouldn't miss it for the world. I gotta close up shop soon, see you at home?"

"Yeah Noah, Elle and I are going to Onshore for dinner so I'll see you later tonight."

"Okay, have fun. Bye Kennedy."

"Bye Wesley." Kenna let's out a small giggle.

I hang up, and immediately smile when I get to use the phrase "see you at home." It might not seem like a lot but I'm just happy she's comfortable enough to stay with me.

My smile immediately falls when I hear the bell to the shop ding and see Brecken walking through the door.

"Heard you fired my girl."

"That was like a month ago." I respond not even being able to hold back a laugh.

"I'll beat your ass Carter."

"On my own property? Please. Go ahead and try."

Brecken walks around the counter and is now only a few inches away from me, arms length for sure. Perfect.

"You talk all of this shit to me, but I have to break my neck looking down at you" I take a step closer and he takes one back. What a joke.

"Kenna is going to turn psycho on you just wait-" I don't even let him finish before I stalk towards him. I grab Brecken by his collar lifting him off the ground and press his back against the wall.

"Hurt Kennedy, and I hurt you. Go near Kennedy, and I'll make sure you can never walk again. Should I continue?" When he doesn't answer, I drop him and wipe the literal sweat off of my hands from Brecken's neck.

"Bye short stack." I say walking into the break room flipping him off over my shoulder.

I grab my keys and Kenna's surf bag she left in here a few days ago, when I hear a car screech out of the parking lot. I look out of the front window of the shop and laugh. Brecken Porter drives a blue Toyota Corolla and tried threatening me- fucks sake.

I send Kenna a quick text and decide to head back to the apartment to shower off the gross feeling of the literal greaseball I just had to tell off in my own store.

Me: just got off let me know if you need anything.

Kenny <3 : actually, I do have a little favor?

Me: anything, what's up?

Kenny <3 : come to dinner w/ me and my friends? PLEASSSSEE

This girl is going to be the death of me.
