Pleasing the Parents is never easy

"You'lll be fine, I promise. They are going to love you. You are already have a relationship with them because they know you as my best friend which means they'll be more open to you being something more than that." Gamora said matter of factly

"I hope so" Peter responded nervously

It was obvious that Peter was nervous considering he was sweating and he was shaking his leg. Gamora noticed this and grabbed Peter's hands making him look at her.

"I'll be with you the entire time. Everything will be fine." Gamora smiled

Knowing that he needed more reassurance she leaned in giving him a long, slow kiss. As they pulled apart Peter looked Gamora in the eyes and nodded slightly signaling to Gamora that he was ready to go inside.

"Here goes nothing" he thought to himself as he grabbed Gamora's hand and walked up towards her front door

Peter and Gamora were currently standing silently side by side in Gamora's living room staring at her parents who were sitting on the couch

"Gamora, you said you guys had something you wanted to tell us?" her mother said breaking the silence

Gamora opened her mouth to respond but no words came out

"Uhh...yes"

"Mom, dad..." Gamora said as she got closer to Peter reaching for his hand, linking their fingers

"Peter and I are dating..."

Gamora felt Peter give her hand a squeeze as she finally revealed their secret. Both Peter and Gamora looked at her parents waiting for a reaction but they both just sat their silently with no emotion on their face.

"I'm in love with your daughter...I love Gamora" Peter added to make things clear

Gamora's mother laid a hand on Gamora's father's arm as he gaped like a fish at Peter's declaration. Nothing was said for a few minutes while her parents processed everything they had just been told.

"Do you understand what you just said to me" Gamora's father said to Peter as he stood up

"Yes, I do" Peter said as his grip became tighter on Gamora's hand

"No, I don't think you do because if you did you wouldn't be standing here telling us this when you have always known that the last thing we have wanted for our daughter is for her to start dating."

Peter let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in

"Gamora, go upstairs" Gamora's father demanded

"No...no I'm staying here" Gamora responded

"If this is true...what you're telling us-"

"It is" Peter said cutting off her father

"No!" Gamora's mother replied sharply

"What I'm hoping could happen is that-"

"No what is gonna happen is you are going to get out of my house right now!" Gamora's father said as he cut Peter off

"Dad just-"

"Gamora, no!" her mother interrupted

"With all due respect sir-"

"I am not asking you, I am telling you" Gamora's father demanded cutting Peter off yet again

"Sir, if you would just listen to what I have to-"

This time Gamora's father cut Peter off by decking him in the face. Silence washed over the room like a tidal wave. Gamora's mother had a hand over her mouth in disbelief as Peter wiped the blood from his nose and his lip and Gamora's father shook his hand hoping to shake the excruciating pain away that was currently pulsating through it. Peter just looked at Gamora with an expression that she just couldn't quite read.
