Soul marks

One night Peter and Gamora were laying in bed together. Gamora's head was resting on Peter's chest with his arms wrapped around her while she traced the tip of her finger along his skin. She noticed something about the skin on his inner wrist. It was almost like an engraving in his skin, but it wasn't a scar and wasn't a tattoo of any sort. Gamora knew what it was because she had one too. It was a soul mark. It was supposed to be the meaning of your soulmate's name.

"Peter what's your soul mark"

Peter glanced down at Gamora running her finger over soul mark. Peter then proceeded to rest his hand on top of hers which caused Gamora to gaze up into his eyes.

"My mom told me it was the word giver with music notes surrounding it"

Gamora let his words sink in and her heart had started to speed up but she kept it to herself.

"What does your's look like?"

Their soul marks happened to be in the same place on their bodies and Gamora's was a word written in her native language.

"This is what it looks like" she said showing her inner wrist to Peter

Peter glanced down at it for a little bit

"Its written in my native language."

Peter proceeded to let his fingers graze over her mark just as she had done a couple moments prior to his

"Peter what does your name mean?"

"Well, Peter means stone or rock and Quill...I am not sure exactly what it means but I know it's a writing utensil made out of a feather on Terra."

Gamora's heart stopped for a moment and her breath hitched. Peter noticed and started to get a little worried.

"Gamora what's wrong?"

She didn't respond she was still trying to process what he just told her

"Gamora, are you okay?"

It took Gamora a little longer but she eventually responded "Um...yeah I'm okay"

"Are you sure?" Peter asked

"Yeah...it's just..." she paused for a moment

"It's just what..."

Gamora glanced down at her mark and grabbed Peter's hand setting it on her wrist

"My soul mark is written in my native language."

Peter looked at her waiting for her to continue

"It means...featherstone"

Peter paused for a second

"Wait that means...wait a second what does your name mean"

Gamora glanced down at Peter's soul mark and let her fingers graze over it once again. She then let a tear slip and it fell onto his wrist.

He felt the tear now on his wrist and looked up at her

"My name means song giver"

Peter then proceeded to look down at his soul mark. It was the word giver and it has music notes which make up a song.

"Wait so if my first name means stone and my last name is a feather used for writing on Terra and your mark says featherstone and your name means song giver and my mark has the word giver with music notes from a song surrounding the word then that means..."

They both gazed up into each other's eyes for a minute

"We're soulmates Peter" Gamora said

"Yeah...yeah we are"

Gamora leaned in and kissed him long and slow

Gamora couldn't believe she found her soulmate. She always had doubts about how their relationship would work out in the future but now that she knows that Peter is her soulmate there was no doubt in her mind that her and Peter were going to be together forever.

"I love you" Gamora said

"I love you too"

Peter was hers and Gamora was his and they couldn't be happier.
