Secrets in the Woods- Beomkai

Cupid's arrows

Taehyun, Yeonjun continue to stare at the couple. Soobin fidgets with one of the glasses he just cleaned and is debating on sneaking behind the bar to grab another bottle of alcohol. Kai makes eye contact with Taehyun again and they go back to staring at each other.

Beomgyu faces Yeonjun with a giant smile on his face teasing "see you guys didn't believe me but we are! 2 weeks going strong isn't that right Kamal?!"

"Well..uh...yeah I gue-" Kai stutters again but Beomgyu cuts him off. "And it really is because of him that Im okay. Hes so cute just look at his face! Thats MY face!"

Kai burries his recently claimed face into Beomgyu's back, wishing to disappear.

"And he saved me. And he took care of me. And he-" Kai puts his hand over Beomgyu's mouth.

"And he makes you shut up." Taehyun says bluntly.

Beomgyu licks Kai's hand and laughs when it's pulled away. His arms wrap around his neck and he whispers "its okay" into Kai's ear. Kai squeezes him tighter and Beomgyu softly kisses his forehead.

The couples hear a 'clink' behind them and see Soobin fumbling with a bottle of vodka. "Oh god Soobin not that one. The one below it please. My mom would kill me if we drank that one." Kai explains the bottle Soobin was holding was from his mom's deceased childhood friend.

Soobin grabs the bottle below the original and notices its the same one without the message on it. He grabs 5 shot glasses and pours the pungent sweet smelling liquid into the vessels for his friends. They silently clink them together and down the shots. Everyone starts coughing except for Kai. He attributes his high alcohol tolerance to his german genetics.

The 5 settle in silence once again. Soobin speaks up and suggests they air everything out. He's clinging for dear life onto the bar and is trying his best not to slur his words.

Yeonjun asks a question first. "So... Beomgyu just so Im understanding this correctly... Kai is the one that asked you out? Not the other way around?"

"Damn right!" Beomgyu beams with pride.

"Yeah that makes sense. You didnt even have the balls to talk to Kai in school."

"Oh BIIIIIGGGG talk coming from the guy who could only ask his boyfriend out by getting wasted!"

"How did you know about that?!"

"Soobin showed me the video!"

Soobin was falling asleep at the bar. He mumbled "...Soobin did what?"

Yeonjun walks up to him, leans over, gets very close to Soobin's ear and goes "APPARENTLY CHOI SOOBIN, THERE WAS A VIDEO. SHOW ME THE VIDEO"

Soobin sobers up for a second and tries to run upstairs. Yeonjun catches him and they start wrestling for the phone.

"Why is it when I plan something, it always starts with people yelling?" Kai says while looking at the idiots on the ground.

Taehyun snatches the phone out of Soobin's hand and starts scrolling. Yeonjun is busy holding Soobin back. Soobin was too wasted to really do anything but he tried regardless. A few seconds later, Tae plays the video for the three to see. It ends and Yeonjun snatches the phone out of Taehyun's hands and deletes the video.

They walk back to where they were but Soobin ended up stumbling into a chair and tipping them both over. Taehyun helps him onto one of the couches in the middle of the room and the rest of the group follows them into the conversation pit. Soobin's head falls backwards and his body flops onto Taehyun. He falls asleep instantly.

Yeonjun picks up where he left off before the phone incident. "So Kai... seriously how did this start? You guys didnt even talk before if I remember correctly."

Kai looks at Beomgyu and thinks about the day he found him. He remembers seeing him step out of the shower and everything changed. He couldnt describe what happened. Beomgyu suddenly wasnt this guy he barely knew before. He had significance to him now. It wasnt just lust. Beomgyu had always been attractive. That day, seeing the moonlight illuminate his body, seeing the way his eyes almost twinkle with starlight, Kai fell in love.

He thought about something his mom told him and Joshua when they were younger. Joshua asked his mom how she met dad on their way to the cabin. Their mom said they met in college at Yale. Dad was a legacy because he was a Huening. The Huenings had lawyer vines their family tree as far as they could trace it. He was popular and a bit of a bad boy.

Her on the other hand, wanted nothing to do their father. Her only goal was to be the first woman in the state to not only start her own law firm but have it be 10 best in the country. She could start her family life after her career was set. Relationships were just a detour to a set path.

She told the boys her dad asked her out every month for 2 years straight until she said yes. She threatened to get a restraining order twice. It wasnt until she saw him playing his guitar in the park that she fell in love with him. "It hit me like a ton of bricks. Came blindly out of nowhere. Cupid struck and I fell instantly" their mom said. Theyve been happy ever since.

Kai thought it was ridiculous at the time. Love wasnt instant. That was a bunch of bullshit.

12 years later, he understood his mom. It wasnt bullshit. Cupid really does strike randomly and that night, he chose Kai as his target. "I couldnt tell you how it started Yeonjun but Im glad it did. I imagine its how you felt when you saw Taehyun for the first time."

The couples smile and look at their partners. Their loving moment was interrupted by Soobin starting to snore on the couch. They softly laugh and watch the giant man sleep away the alcohol he had. Soobin twitches for a second, then goes back to peacefully dreaming.

Kai asks the burning question on his mind. "What did you guys talk about after Soobin and I left?"

Taehyun responds. "Honestly we didnt talk that much. Beomgyu talked and we listened. I missed that motor mouth of his." Tae steals a glance at Beomgyu with a smirk on his face. "He basically explained everything that happened, including what Soobin did, and begged us not to get mad at you guys."

Kai shifts in his seat. "...are you mad?"

Taehyun immedietly says "No. I am hurt that you kept Beomgyu a secret from me but he very...very...passionately explained that it was his idea. He's okay because of you Kai. And truthfully you were the best person to find him. I dont know what I wouldve done if he saw me instead of you. We also never wouldve heard Soobin's side of the story if it wasnt for you."

"The gun to the head was a bit uncharacteristic though. Didn't think you had it in you Kai." Yeonjun chimes in regretting it instantly. Another moment where he just couldn't help himself. Taehyun smacks him on the back.

Kai looks down at Soobin and squeezes his boyfriend tightly for comfort. "... I thought he hurt Beomgyu..."

"I'm okay baby" Beomgyu says into his ear. "I'm okay. We're all okay". He turns to face the center of the pit. "Those assholes are dead in the fucking ground. I'm only sorry I couldn't kill them first. How are we going to help Soobin?"

They begin to form a plan together, Taehyun being the mastermind behind most of it. Kai was going to call Joshua to see if his parents were home yet. If they were, Kai would ask them to come to the cabin so they could explain everything together.
Soobin was going to write down his confession and go over everything he could remember.

Beomgyu was going to write down what happened to him and would confer with Soobin to make sure their stories aligned.
Taehyun and Yeonjun were going to get Kai's version of what happened after he was done talking to his family.

They were then going to make sure their stories didn't sound too polished. Kai said a defense attorney would tear them to shreds if they thought for a moment that they were just a bunch of kids making this up in the woods.

By the time they were done, they were exhausted. No one wanted to carry Soobin upstairs so they all just fell asleep on the couches. Soobin's head was on Taehyun's lap. Taehyun was on Yeonjun's chest and Beomgyu was in Kai's arms on the opposite end of the red velvet square.
