Divorce revelations and sparks

Kai freezes. The phone keeps ringing. He looks at Beomgyu and gets told to answer it.
He places his boyfriend down on the couch and picks the phone up. The other three come running and join Beomgyu on the couch to listen in on the conversation.

"Hey Joshua whats up? Is mom and dad home?"

"Kai? Kai they got home last night. How are you? Are you okay? Is Soobin okay?"

"Joshua why wouldnt I be okay? Soobin is fine! Are YOU okay?"

Joshua tells Kai that Soobin's brother was reported missing. He also explains the divorce with the grandparents was finally over so their parents caught the first flight they could back. He tells Kai that he was given his grandfather's condo in central park in new york while Joshua got the full property Kai was in right now. Apparently the idea was to make sure they gave each other as little as possible.

While Joshua was talking, Kai was updating the group with everything he was saying while covering the speaker.

Beomgyu whispers "you own a condo in central park?!"
Kai motions for him to shush.

"Did mom and dad say why they got divorced?"

Joshua sighs over the phone. "Grandpa found out grandma cheated."

"...what?" Kai's voice starts to break. Beomgyu sees he's barely holding it together. He limps over and just holds him.

"Yeah Kai. Thats why it took so long... because Grandpa found out mom isnt his."

"...what do you mean? How?"

"Mom's biological father passed away and left everything to mom in his will. He didnt have much but regardless, it didnt make any sense. Mom had no idea why a random guy would give everything to her so she contacted grandpa and one DNA test later, the divorce started and our parents left us alone for 8 months."

Kai refuses to cry. He pulls up a chair for himself and Beomgyu and rests his head on his boyfriend's shoulders. Beomgyu strokes his hair and tells him he loves him.

"Grandpa knows he's still our grandpa right?"

"Yeah Kai. He does. Listen I think you should come home. We have a lot to talk about. Mom and dad have a whole list of things we got, legal documents and stuff. I miss you little brother."

"Im taller than you. But I miss you too. Actually Joshua, I need their help. Please dont say anything until Im done talking. This is pretty big."

"Kai youre scaring me."

"Joshua please."

He tells him everything. Beomgyu rubs Kai's stomach when he senses his boyfriend's nausea. The other three on the couch dont say a word. Everyone patiently waits until Kai is done talking.

"So... do you think they'll help?"
Joshua tentatively says yes and puts his parents on the phone.

"Hi mom. Is dad there?"

"Yeah he's here. Do you want to say hi?"

"Hey Kai! Having fun? We missed you so much. Did Joshua tell you you got the condo?"

"Yeah dad he told me. Listen can you put me on speaker? I need your help. Im sorry."

The group sighs and Kai starts the entire speech over again. The line goes silent for a while. His parents request to put Soobin and Beomgyu on the phone. He calls Soobin over and Soobin replaces Kai in his seat. They answer all of the questions his parents have.

Kai is telling the couple on the couch that his parents are 'interviewing' them to see if they want to take their case. They would only take it if it seemed winnable since it crime wasnt exactly their specialty. It wasnt unfamiliar to them though. Domestic disputes are notoriously dangerous, a lot of them caused by a marriage seperation, so a chunk of their cases werent exactly peaceful.
