Secrets in the Woods- Beomkai

5 years later

The next 5 years goes as follows:

Seokjin, Soobin's mentor, was released from prison so Soobin began to take over the role as mentor for other inmates. His skills were getting quite good. At one point, he met Gordon Ramsay for during a TV special and was offered a job when he finished culinary school. He couldnt believe it. He had a job lined up at a michelin star restaurant. Soobin was so overwhelmed at the offer, he hugged Gordon Ramsay and made him laugh.

After a lot of convincing, Felix actually got Soobin to work out with him too. He was becoming quite fit. Soobin's calm aura started to rub off on Felix. The australian got into fights less and less which made the security guards happy. Felix learned that he was a great personal trainer to Soobin. He told himself that if he was lucky enough to get out in 8 years, that he would get a job at a gym. Or become one of those guys who writes a memoir and tours the country giving motivational speeches.

Yeonjun got his teaching degree and started his dream job at a private school. His first year was challenging and he loved every second of it. His kids called him "teacher junnie" and "Mr. Choi". He introduced Taehyun to his class one day they kept talking about how big his eyes are.

Yeonjun quickly became a favorite teacher from the parents. He started getting specific requests for him to teach younger siblings when they got older. Yeonjun was funny, patient, and supportive of every single one of his kids in his classroom.

Being around kids all the time really made him want one of his own. He decided to propose to Taehyun 4 months ago. It was perfect.

He got Joshua's permission to take him to the cabin for the weekend and set everything up in the private theater. Candles were lit on the edges of the room. Rose petals graced all of the theater chairs. Champagne was sitting in an ice bucket on one of the mini fridges. It looked perfect.

They started by watching "all of us are dead" on netflix. Taehyun always loved zombie stuff. In the middle of one of the scenes, Kai purposely messed with the connection from afar so it started buffering. The screen eventually cut out to a video Yeonjun recorded of himself.

"Hey Taehyun. I know youre probably confused but itll make sense soon, I promise. I just wanted to tell you that youre the best person I know. Youre smart, so attractive and you make me feel like I can do anything. You care so much about me. You listen to me talk about things you dont care about without interrupting. You always bring me soup and tea when Im sick. You just make me feel...complete. So... Taehyun..."

Yeonjun gets down on one knee and presents a diamond ring. "I cant live without you. I want to make you as happy as you make me. Will you marry me?"
Taehyun said yes.

Theyve been engaged since and the wedding is next year. They couldve make it sooner but it wouldve felt incomplete without Soobin. Soobin had to be there no matter what.

Before they got engaged, Taehyun graduated from Yale with honors. He didn't get the job at Google but did land one with microsoft. He debated on getting his doctorate but decided he didn't need it because he already got the job he's dreamed of.

He spent the past year working to develop codes with a team to improve A.I, specifically to increase bias awareness. The team determined, if they could keep up the progress they were making, they could achieve their goal in 7 years. A short time to wait to produce the dream of having a completely unbiased opinion. It would eliminate human bias in areas it should and would be the ultimate test of fairness.

Yeonjun supported him the whole way just as Taehyun supported Yeonjun.

Beomgyu's soccer career was cut short after he broke his ankle again. It wasn't really career ending but over time he got more interested in journalism. He loved interviewing people, investigating and presenting his findings in front of a camera. He graduated Yale and got an internship at Vice.

3 months in, he was given a break. He got a chance to interview an ex ISIS soldier and quickly became a favorite. His looks brought in views and his personality made them stay. He eventually worked his way up to full time reporter and got the privilege to start traveling the world with his job.

Kai didnt mind. They never spent more than 2 days apart. He used the time Beomgyu was away to either study or work under his parents at the firm.

Kai got his 4 year degree from Yale also with honors. He started his doctorates last year and also began working with his parents on select cases. They told him his insight was fresh. He was great at breaking the ice with clients and calming people down. Kai could make anyone comfortable talking to him. His parents were proud beyond belief.

Beomgyu was planning on proposing to Kai at Yeonjun and Taehyun's wedding in a private area. He asked for their permission and they of course said yes. When he told Soobin, he started jumping up and down in his seat behind the glass. Soobin promised he would help him prepare everything for Kai.

Today was the day Soobin was going to be a free man. Mr. Huening visited him the day before and told him everything was set at culinary school. He also said he was welcome back home and that his room was ready for him. Soobin couldn't sleep that day in anticipation. He spent the whole night talking to Felix and giving him the stuff he aquired. They said goodbye one last time and he walked out the door.

"SOOBIN!" his best friends yelled. They ran up to him and hugged the hell out of him. "WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH SOOBIN!"
"I MISSED YOU GUYS TOO!"

Tears were shed and they held each other close. They eventually started to walk back to Kai's car. Taehyun hit him on the arm and asked "so how does it feel to be a free man?"
Soobin looked at the sky for a bit then back at his friends. "It feels perfect. Tomorrow we can always be together."
